This one is the first time I have understood to keep your back femur facing the target line since I started golfing in 1976. I have taken lessons from many golf professionals and watched many KZbin vids on the subject and never understood this actuality as I now do. I now can practice, see and feel the proper transfer and experience the proper swing sequence much better than ever before. I am 66 years old and thank-you for opening my eyes.

I tried this on the range today. I was a baseball player, and a pitcher in college and it's funny you speak about athletes so often and I love it! I wasn't perfect, and my range is only about 300 yards, 350 if you stand in the back. I had a few absolute bombs today easily carried over 300+ when in reality, i'm normally around 280-300 avg. I CANNOT WAIT to get back out there and try this again this weekend.

A slide has killed my game.I have played a majority of my golf in the past 3 months alone and have gotten noticeably worse and haven't figured out what the problem was and no one to tell me. I watched this video after filming myself and BINGO found the problem. My game has gone from mid 80's to upper 70's in about 3 weeks and i am noticeably not as sore after playing a round or going to the range. Personally due to my major problem this has been the most informative video so far. Thanks so much..

What a great lesson Clay, and the thing about it is that I think it can help all of us; including those of us in the 7-20 handicap level. This process has added a solid 5-10 yards to my drives...consistently. It also looks like what Molinari was practicing before every round on the range as he went from top 100, to top Ten in the WR. Awesome demonstration of the technique and visual thoughts!

I was the guy keeping everything centered, but that was my plan (as I play only 10-15 rounds per year (between May and the end of September) and go to range once or twice a month during that period) to get a swing that is easy to maintain. The less moving parts the better. But now I had developed an issue (most likely because of losing mobility) that my back was very curved on the top of my backswing and I was actually leaning just a bit towards target with my upper body. That was of course causing inconsistency. So the coach I took a lesson from showed me about the same thing you showed in this video and I'm trying to make it work now (incosistent still of course, because I haven't completed the swing change yet). The downswing part is where the old habits still cime through at times and mess things up. The backswing change is actually quite easy as I was rotating well enough previously too.

Just wanted to tell you that Ive been one of those 280 guys you were talking about with very little weight shift. I tried your drill before going to my local golf shop to try the New Titleist TS3. Took 10 swings with my old club and averaged over 300yds with it. Then I tried the new Titleist TS3. The first swing went 330!!! I’ve never been able to do that! I got a little emotional at the result and just kept staring at the screen!It got to the point where the sales guys at the shop stopped what they were doing to watch me swing! Thank you so much for this tip! If I can keep this going you will have transformed my golf game forever.

I think they tinkered with the setting so they can sell you the club. Must have added hurricane strength winds. Don’t be shocked when you take it on the golf course and the reality turns out different.

Mil Sneler I’ve been able to hit the ball that far from time to time. But anything over 290 for me is one of those “how did I do that?”Moments. My longest drive ever was a 350 yd drive. I’ve known it was in there for the last 2 years. I just couldn’t figure out how to tap into it. Whenever I tried to hit it as “hard” as I could it turned into a slice. I’m in the gym 5 days a week and I do yoga. I’m literally the guy clay describes. I can bench 3 plates and I do triathlons and Spartan races all the time. All these reasons are why I posted the message I did. I’ve been consistently around 300yds total distance with my 917D2 since I watched this video. I hit balls almost every day and I have my own launch monitor so this is factual and verifiable. We all know the 917D2 is not the longest club out there. I’ve hit a stock M3 and a stock TS3 in the 290-310 total distance range consistently over 3 sessions now. I was custom fit on Thursday for the M3, didn’t buy it. That day I was averaging 111!swing speeds. I’m usually around 104. Tomorrow I’ll get fit for a TS3 and then choose which club will be my next driver. I’ll let you all know if my my new swing speed holds up.

Hey Clay, I never understood how to “LOAD USING THE GROUND” until I picked up a sledge hammer and I realized that my body Naturally gets “loaded” and I feel powerful so now when I address the ball part of my pre shot is to hold the club like a sledge hammer and imagine the weight of a hammer and my lower body gets ready to deliver and my hands and arms naturally become a little more relaxed knowing they don’t play much of a roll here they are just a guide

I thought one of the most interesting things wasn't mentioned: The difference between the 116.5mph swing and the 115.1mph "centered" swing was only 1.4mph, but 60 yards in total distance. That was much less about swing speed and power, and more about the position your clubhead is in if you swing like that, which was too much of a downward angle, producing more backspin, and a little more off-center hit. I had to screenshot the video and compare to see why such a huge difference, but definitely would have been worth mentioning since the entire premise was all about your swing speed being lower if you swing like that, but it wasn't really the issue.

Wow, even your off shots are freaking far. What I have found is if your stance angle is tilted to right and hold it until ball impact, my drives go straighter and farther and not having such a wide stance also seems to help me. Great video though. Your advice has helped immensely. I've hit the ball a few times to 280 yards but usually average around 220 to 245 which is good for me at my 50's. Driver is 2016 M1 with all Taylormade irons and woods which has really increased my distance from my old Adams set. A good driver and irons really makes a difference. Thank you...

Keeping the head still as you transfer sounds difficult and the thrusting up on the left leg is new to me. Does this also apply on all your Iron Shots
@TopSpeedGolf
@TopSpeedGolf 3 жыл бұрын
There can be a little movement of the head in the golf swing with no major issues. Yes, the swing is the same for all full swings/shots. The ball position changes with a driver to make contact on the upswing and longer clubs will naturally have a flatter arc, but everything else is the same. Best of luck! Nate | TSG Instructor

The beginning downswing action is to clear whatever may block the proper movement of the right side. The left leg hermus is kept at the same position, for moving out the center part of the belly and the spine of waist. The movement of belly is often mistaken as a weight shift, but the real reason is for giving the way to the right side.

Would this be the same for irons?

Question; is it arms then chest on the backswing or is it chest and arms same time.
@TopSpeedGolf
@TopSpeedGolf 5 жыл бұрын
It's usually better to move them in one piece at the same time but if you do better with the arms first then that is fine too. This isn't something that is fundamental. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

I was just wondering what type of driver and shaft do you use in the video above? Thanks in advance.

Hi Victor, I believe Clay plays the Ping i15 with a UST Proforce V2 shaft. He is on his 3rd or 4th one. The faces keep cracking :-) Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

Homeboy ate his Wheaties. Love the shot-put idea to load the leg...also the weight shift should allow an ice skate-like push off move.

So do you mostly just try and shift the upper thighs in the weight shift because it looks that way?
@TopSpeedGolf
@TopSpeedGolf 3 жыл бұрын
Your thighs are involved for sure, but for the weight shift aspect I like to think of my feet and how much of my weight is in each one. Here is another video that explains this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mF7PkGdjpd-FfKs Best of luck! Nate | TSG Instructor

It took me months to realize the difference between weight shift and pressure increase. Everyone always talks about shifting weight to the right foot, the problem is that’s a horrible way to explain it because it makes people sway and pivot to the right foot. What you should say is push down on the right foot, straighten that right leg and push into the ground with it while your hips rotate. Once I started doing that I had my best front 9 of all time 41. And I just started playing last August. Don’t call it weight shift. Call it pushing down on the rear leg.

I was told to imagine you’re stood on a massive screw... and you’re trying to drive the screw into the ground, then back out again with your feet as you rotate. I found I could generate a load more power doing this.... just need to control it!!
