Runick White Forest Deck Profile (IN-DEPTH Sep 2024)

I picked this deck up as a returning player and its been fun albeit difficult in learning how/when to pop and do things

1 astellar is actually great for the grind game. You get in rotation easily with woes. If you open it almost everyone is going to imperm or ash/veiler ur hugin/fountain so their effect is usually freed. I've been topping consistently with 2 rucia 1 astellar. Also pot of desires goes crazy in this deck. Will basically thin you down to just runick spells left in the deck after a couple fountain activations leaving you nothing but gas

The Black Goat Laughs is good going first and second. Discard it off hugin, Elzet or Rucia and its a board breaker. Or set it and it goes first

For my side i have Munin and Scarlight dragon. Scarlight in particular is both a time card and a going second card. DRNM into coral dragon, pop a 3k atk monster, into Scarlight for a full clear is very good. I dont think you need Dogwood anymore, so you can play Scarlight + Munin +1. I have a third copy of Woes to help vs Shifter and Droll.

I have also been considering one Astellar for the grind game. It comes up pretty often, where you could have summoned it on woes, and kept the third hugin in deck for destruction protection. But also opening it is absolutely the worst, if you open it alongside any other WF card. Hugin discarding it is also pretty good though. Edit: just got to the part where you say youre a blind second. Definitely dont play Astellar in this version.

I’ve thought about doing this for awhile now. Having taken a few breaks from the game, it is hard coming back, and I wish there was more about this topic. I have a few events soon, so I’m not sure id be able to any time soon, but I’d definitely love to one day and maybe come up with some other resources for returning players

You could try masterduel, the solo mode actually explains the new mechanics and once you're confident the base you can harness your play style against other players

I think yubel/fiendsmith opening board negates going second. If they have the right board they can have up to like 11-12 negates

@@GulpingGlizzies it’s very very difficult to break their full board, but it’s possible with the right combinations of Runick and non engine. I feel like I can beat most other decks pretty handily going second, but yubel’s like 50/50 at best lol. Depending on the format, losing 50% of your Yubel matchups might either be horrible or completely fine 😂

Dark ruler doesn't work in Runick, if you are expecting to buy two boardbreakers with this deck forgot. Needs consistency cards, upstart, chicken game. Rivalry and TCBOO are not main deckbable, rivalry not even in the side, TCBOO great side against Yubel, only that. Purulia doesn't work, you need the spell counting. Talent, Deck lockdown or consistency cards, that's it. And please don't hear anything from does saying Astellar is good, it's not, it's awful. Also don't go the foolish goods route, it doesn't work.
