The thing that got lost when fishing changed from paper to this format. Is that we lost those seasonal images each month. That appears on covers of the monthly magazine. That image of the angler fishing against the autumn backdrop in September. The image that made the young aspiring angler in the bookstore reach for their copy from the magazine stand. The young folks growing up have lost out on that experience. And it's one of those things in the transformation to media and culture that can be chalked down to a loss (the idea that the 'Insta' image is puked out every second day or hour). And we've lost the thing that was special. I can still remember images from 'Trout and Salmon' covers from thirty years ago. Because they carried you away to a different universe for a while. This piece of footage though for some reason. It brought me back a long number of years, and it reminded me. Each month you'd wonder what the next cover would be like. It's a thing that BRC kind of missed too. Being totally focused on the same communications on platforms. The physical store branch, the taste of real coffee and a paper edition. To lose oneself away and day dream for a few minutes. It brings back something that is rare and special again. In a world in which images are coming from all directions at everyone. We've lost that part where just the one image was special. If there was a photographer boat on that lake now, one could have captured one of those key images. That would stand the test of time. That thing that is unique and valuable. Those essay types of images. That's missing in the culture today.

There’s been a lot lost…I liked your analytical view, what I think is lost is true love and respect for the fish and the game itself…not just trying to catch the biggest fish something I try to show in my videos.

I know alot of ppl don't but I love this time of yr or should I say the time of yr coming up cause its still summer pretty much here in Louisiana but the mornings and nights are starting to cool down!! I had a great fall fishing last yr and hope to again!! My spring wasn't great this yr and summer has just been aight!!
