The rig has a few names. I was introduced to it a few months ago as the "fish-finder rig", then as the "carolina rig" (if those two are the same). I need practice with this and the dropshot, i caught one shiner with my first dropshot, then the rig came off my Hawaiian snap and fell to the bottom when i jerked the rod upwards. Holy cow, i spent all day yesterday catching sticks and chunks of mossy fabric or grass with my swimbait. I better try this rig and the dropshot for the bottom! I was just dipping it in the water by the docks when i caught shiners. I'm so new to this, I'm trying to catch my first flounder and salmon, so i have to explore the bottom a lot, but ive been using my swimbaits, i forgot that these new-to-me rigs are meant to keep my hook OFF the bottom. I have these new grubs that are buoyant, and would be perfect for mimicking live bait on your fish-finder / reverse dropshot. This is a great video. But I'm quite a'ways north from where you bass fisherman are, so I'm also looking forward to trying those lures that are popular in the states. If you ever use spoon lures or crankbaits, theres this canadian crank-style product called a "buzzbomb" lure. I haven't caught anything with it yet, but i need to find the salmon first. I use 2.5 inch and 4.5 inch buzzbombs. I have to order those lures that you show us, my tackle store has a narrow selection.

Canada has some great small mouth fisheries as well as other species. We visited a lake in the boondocks, the closet town was an hour drive. This rig catches fish flat out for me. I don’t use the components like a Carolina rig. Nor do I fish it that way. I fish it more like a drop shot.

Great Video, I was curious what was the 2nd craw you were showing in this video? The one right after the TRD craw that was still attached to the ned head?
@addicted_to_fishingАй бұрын
I believe that was the salty sucker bait co. Craw.

The reverse drop shot seems to be a split shot (mojo) rig. A proven winner.

This is not special as we used a Split Shot rig using a round # 3 or 4 Split Shot 18 to 24" above your hook...............4 to 8lbs Mono or Fluorocarbon, #4 or #6 circle or wire worm hook.........................Fishing 4" Handpours or Reapers only,,,,,,,,,,Anything else will cause line twist..........................This has been a standard rig in Socal for the past 40+ years...............................Fish it uphill or in flats!

Very nice. I like the drop shot weight it’s easier to move depending on what cover I’m fishing. I don’t get line twist with any of the baits I mentioned.

I was thinking the same thing...I have fished split-shot rigs since the late 80's. :)

@@addicted_to_fishing Then you are not experience enough on this technique. Any Boot or Curley tail will twist the line.....Especially on long casts..........
@addicted_to_fishing3 ай бұрын
I fishes the spilt shot rig, just prefer this as I don’t kink the line and can move the length quickly.

I have been fishing for over 40 years and used this technique for 3. I don’t get line twist. Curly tails I’ve fished for decades without line twist. I fished the st.lawrence river since 1982 for big small mouths. Not only long cast but deep water. Never line twist.

It's no different then a Carolina rig without sliding weight. When I first started fishing I used clam style weights and a live worm.
@addicted_to_fishing3 ай бұрын
A Carolina rig is very similar if you don’t utilize a swivel and beads. You could definitely use a Carolina rig with these baits. I like the Drop shot weight as I can quickly change the leader and if I want to change to a free rig I can bend the top part as I showed in the video
@TravisForeman_2 ай бұрын
So you reinvented the Carolina rig? Okay.

Take it easy. I take it he never heard of that one. It's great that he thought of it on his own, that means he's on the right track and has good intuition.

You’re not letting the viewer see the baits long enough, you’re too quick to jump on the next product. You may be familiar with the products but your audience isn’t, slow down a bit.
