Catching several largemouth bass on topwater frogs during the spawn. The last minute of the video shows "the ones that got away." I was fishing with a Koppers Live Target Hollow Body Frog.

Use mostly in early morning or late evening. Pause 2-3 seconds before setting the hook after the fish strikes. Use a side arm cast when fishing in shallow water to make less of a splash and prevent spooking fish. Fish it slow in low light conditions and fast with a walking action when the sun is high and its bright out. But most important, after the fish strikes, wait 2-3 seconds while reeling all slack out of the line, then give it a very strong hookset.

I love how at the end he put all the fished that he missed. That's a good idea cause people think fishing these topwaters are easy and it is and it isn't. One thing I can say is I start out in the morning throwing a topwater to catch a limit. It's a good way to get five fish for my tournaments.

@geco8500 No, its called a Koppers Live Target Hollow Body Frog. In my opinion, it is better than the spro and the most realistic frog on the market.

No, you never want to use a weight on a frog because it will effect it's movements and you also want it to float. Try a bigger frog and longer rod. If your using a baitcasting reel, try loosening the tension knob a little.

the on you lost at 3:54 is because you grabbed the line so just a little tip dont grab the line because your arm dosn't give like the rod does so it causes tension and the fish can pry its self loose. But even though you've been fishing loinger than me and probably know that i thought i would let you know. Nice fishing!

Wait until you start to feel the fish pull the line and then set the hook. Sometimes when you set the hook your fish might get away, but most of the time you will hook em. Like I said wait until you see the fish take your frog and you will feel him pull the line...then set.

Next time instead of pulling straight at 12 o'clock, try pulling at 2. You'll almost always hook them from the side and you won't have that lure come flying at you dead on.
