#Creekfishingadventures If you want to find out what quality of bass thats in a pond, take you a panfish rod and a 5 gallon bucket and catch you some small blue gills say 31/2 to 4 inches long for bait. Put them in your bucket with a pump for oxygen. Catch say 8 or 10 and get your bass rod with a 3/0 hook i recommend the eagle claw bait holder hook the one that has the offset bend in it. I dont use any weight or a float, hook the bream just behind the back fin or dorsal fin. Throw it out and wait, when you get a run give it line and i give it a 10 count then tighten up and set the hook! I grew up fishing ponds and that is the absolute best way to catch the biggest bass in a pond!
@suemartinez7153 жыл бұрын
Wow! That is a really good fish! Houston,from Arms Family Homestead caught a really big bass in the creek where the kids swim! He used live bait that he had just netted. I have GOT to get me some of those! I can't tell you how many lures that I've tried in my lifetime, that didn't work a hoot! They were absolutely worthless! I've had some good ones that worked, though. Rapala floating minnows, 3-4 inches long, Black over Silver, or Black over Gold...Panther Martin Spinners, and nowadays, the Berkeley Gulp Minnows, 2 1/2-3 inches long. They're a great weapon to use to catch fish, when seemingly nothing else works. I usually carry a couple of packs of them. I've also got some Berkeley Gulp Hellgrammites, for if I ever decide to go Stream fishing. Those are some of my favorites.

I fished a lot of farm ponds in my younger days. to hard to get down into for me now but have never had a lot of luck with the lunkers I know they are in there because I see them but they are so well feed with frogs most of the year they don't give a hit. Now if you want to do some frog gigging you can kill it. EDIT, so the creek rule is always right. the best bait is what lives there and the frog at night makes perfect sense.
