Torbay's Cruise Ship Residents UP CLOSE | 27/02/2021

I wasn't planning on making this video however after a kayak fishing trip in Torbay I noticed that I had collected enough footage for a short video. I wanted to make this video to show the unique sight of these resting beasts up close.
Due to the COVID-19 cruise pause many cruise ships have been at anchor in and near Torbay to await orders and for cruising to resume. Torbay offers them the perfect place for anchoring long term due to it's local maritime services as well as shelter from prevailing Westerly winds. The sight of the cruise ships has become very popular with locals and their presents has become a normality in Torbay. I am obviously over the moon with having so many cruise ships on my doorstep as I am a keen ship photographer.
During my trip I managed to visit 3 of the 5 vessels that were at anchor on the day of my trip.
I started the day by visiting "ZAANDAM" and "MARELLA EXPLORER", I had not planned to visit any more vessels as "VOLENDAM" and "OOSTERDAM" were anchored too far out for me however at about 2pm "EURODAM" arrived from Brest, France and anchored in such a favorable position that I couldn't resist.
KAYAKING & FISHING IS PERMITTED AS EXERCISE AND I WAS NOT BREAKING ANY RULES DURING MY TRIP.
THE SEA IS A DANGEROUS PLACE. I AM AN EXPERIENCED KAYAKER, HAD FAIR WEATHER & WAS EQUIPED WITH ALL NECESSARY SAFETY EQUIPMENT FOR AN OFFSHORE TRIP. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO PADDLE OUT TO THE CRUISE SHIPS UNLESS YOU ARE COMPETENT AND HAVE THE REQUIRED SAFETY EQUIPMENT.
