See me make a wood chisel from raw materials to finished product. I use an old technique of laminating steel to the edge of the tool.

My grandfather was a woodworker. His workshop was full of different chisels, plains, wood mallets, and handmade clamps. When I was young, I was surrounded by the house stuff made by him. He left this world 30 years ago, but I still clearly remember him. Thank you for making me recalling him! You've made a wonderful chisel!

Beautiful work ! - that chisel is so nice. I can see one need to be very aware of where the spring steel is welded and remember that through the process, othervise you could end up with a mild steel cutting edge 🤥😄 Pure craftman you are

While the chisel is another work of artistry, the cats cannot be surpassed for their elegance. Gifts from God, all three. I only have a couple of years’ experience as a blacksmith, but a half-century with cats. I know the look of a happy and contented one who loves its family. That’s different from merely living comfortably with a family.

My father was an “old school “ carpenter, he kept a box of Sheffield steel chisels similar to the one you have made, however none had such a beautiful handle as this one of yours. Thank you for the reply. Yes, they are still in the family, one of my sons is a carpenter and has inherited them. The carpentry skipped a generation, I am the metal worker which is probably why I enjoy your videos so much. My family share your love of cats, your cat is obviously well cared for and loved. Have a great day, regards from your Aussie friend.

Now I started wood carving and will soon begin making chisels and carving knives figure around 20 pieces set for carving the 1x4 inch projects and some larger for stuff about hat size. I did just build 5 from Sawzall blade that are doing pretty good But belive the rest I'll use 1095 new steel as it's what I just built a good sharp set of kitchen knives that are doing great. Thanks for teaching me Sir

Hay about the forge weld.... I can see the joint when you are sanding. I added leaf spring steel to my mild steel and I could see that joint much like yours. I thought it was a bad weld and grinding .It would almost fade away so I distory the Tommy Hawk filling I had failed..maybe I should have used the Tommy Hawk and let that be it's testing. I'm today making myself some carving knives and not going to have nicer handle as you make. I have Hickory and copper tubing for collars. Thanks for helping us. Very very nice. So nice, in fact, it's hard to imagine actually putting it against a piece of wood and smacking it with a mallet. One of the major ironies is that there are too many tools that are too good actually to be used, just as there are too many fabulous wines that no one will actually open up and drink.

Dang nice chisel, Torbjorn. Very well crafted and beautiful wood selection for the handle too. Awesome job on the shaping and sharpening, as well. Beautifully cut mortice. Well put together video, also. All-around great experience from my end. I really enjoyed it.
