Making a discus!

I decided to make a custom discus for my son, who is competing in track and field, where discus throwing is one event. A fun project but a bit more work than I first anticipated as you have to meet some specific parameters, like size and weight. I'm very happy with the result and it feels great to throw!

@@torbjornahman *Goodness you and your wife are producing some future sportspeople... Well making a Javelin, might test you, due to it's length.... but I would love to see you try to make one. But one that she would know was hers & it would stand out from all the others. But maybe also make her a hollow football (to keep it light) on a wooden stand to be put up on her shelf in her bedroom too. These are the things that the kids will remember that their dad made for them... to be passed on down to the future generations... as they will stand the test of time forever.*

A javelin is tricky I think, since they need to be hollow, more or less full length....

I have never seen a discus. To actually not only see one but, watch how one is made was rather fulfilling I knew you were going to demonstrate it being used. I figured some big, burly discus thrower.
