I didn't know TY had audio. Can you get them online? Thank you.

HI Brian. At the moment TY is free for Ukrainian online. Just go to the teach yourself website and search for courses or browse and you will be amazed at the amount of free stuff there.

Nice, I'm learning Russian so I get parts, how much does your Russian helps or interferes with learning Ukrainian?

I’m doing Ukrainian and have studied/speak Russian. It helps a ton for learning vocabulary, but comes at a cost of a lot of interference/mixing. That usually irons itself out with more and more exposure to the language and practice

I've also studied Russian and speak it quite well and I have to say when I read Ukrainian it really depends haha... so sometimes there are sentences where I can understand (almost) every word and then sometimes there are sentences where I understand nothing 😂 but knowing Russian (or any similar Slavic language) definitely helps. not only with the vocabulary, but you also understand the sentence structure and also the grammar has lots of similarities (so for example you can quite easily recognize the case of a word for example,). still Russian and Ukrainian have lots of differences , so I think to speak Ukrainian well still takes a lot of time regardless of knowing Russian
