Day 55: Interesting. Languages like Norwegian tend to be ignored because the locals tend to speak English fluently. However, it's always lovely to speak the language of the country you visit. It shows respect :)

Day 51: French, Spanish, and Portuguese are the languages I'm learning at the moment. They're useful for me because I have people in my family who speak those languages. So, I will often be able to use those languages. However, I also want to learn Italian, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese in the future. I don't know anyone who speaks these languages, so it might be tricky to maintain these languages. But hey, we have one life, might as well give the things you want to do a try!

Day 50: "Buy one get three languages." Lol. Never thought about it like that. But it makes sense. For instance, I'm learning French, Spanish, and Portuguese. I've put Italian on hold for now. Learning these languages is highly enjoyable. Like Alex said, "learning languages at the same time helps to reinforce the differences". I'm also very conscious of 3 different languages with different structures. Another thing that helps is that I have a main language, which is French, and the other 2 languages I spend a little less time with. I mostly focus on input-based learning with Spanish and Portuguese. I also learn them on separate days. French is the only language studied everyday.

Day 49: I predominantly use Assimil for language learning and I love it. However, I'm more than happy to use other materials such as Teach Yourself, Pimsleur and more. Variety is key for me, but having a main resource is great for consistency :)

Day 46: I'm really immersing myself into my target languages. I've been spending time with my main target language for quite a while now, to the point where it feels totally natural to listen to the news or a podcast in my target language instead of my native language. I even said things in my target language without thinking about it. It's incredible how much can come out of you when you put a lot in you. Wonderful stuff!

Day 41: I remember watching this at the time. It was so motivating!

Day 40: "The key thing is motivation. If you're not motivated to learn, you're not going to learn." I've been very consistent with my language learning. Motivation has played a huge part in this. I never knew how powerful it could be. I wasn't motivated to learn before hence I struggled with consistency. But now I have clear goals and a weekly schedule that I follow. This had made a huge difference. Because even when I'm not necessarily motivated, I just follow the plan and, the motivation returns. Watching something or listening to something I find fun in the target language is also a good way to keep me motivated. Richard Simcott, Luca Lampariello, Steve Kaufmann, Laoshu, Loki2504 amongst others have motivated me to learn via videos like this. I love you Polyglots!

I know its been a few years from when this was posted... but about the question you guys had throughout the video, examples of other situations where two languages within a community interact in such a way other than Spanish-Guarani... One example I can think of, In Iran, other than Persian, the national language, many other languages are spoken of course. The largest of which is Azerbaijani Turki. Now, the Turkic-homeland provinces (4, 4 and a half provinces in the NW of the country), they're pretty much monolingually Turkic. But, in Tehran, the capital city, there are neighbourhoods and suburban towns that are also pretty homogeneously Azeri-inhabited. There too, I would say something similar exists. There also exists this debate about "Jopara" or mix or whatever. I've heard many combinations. There's pure Azerbaijani of course, and pure Persian. There's the situation where, since in Turkic languages, verbs have a very strong grammatical role and they're agglutinative, some people use Persian words for nouns and adjectives and everything, but use Turkic verbs. Then (Persian is like English, in that auxiliary and compound verbs are a big thing), there's people who import that concept into Azerbaijani . Instead of using the unique Turkic verb, they create compound verbs same as in Persian, but with the Turkic verb eləmək for example.

Day 33: Interesting points. But I think that if it wasn't English, then another language would take it's place as the Lingua Franca. The good thing about language is unity. It unites people. The great thing about speaking multiple languages is the variety. You open yourself up to a variety of people and cultures.

Incredible. Some expected problems which you can hear that Stefano doesn't make. Indo-european speakers usually have a hard time with three short sounds in the same words, which Richard kinda struggles with. Also the Ä sound at the end of words can be difficult. The word minä has all of these challenges.
