Torfbahn /Peat Train Krakulice (PL) 1999

Die Firma Hol Las betreibt im Nordosten von Polen fünf Torffabriken, die alle auch eine eigene Werkbahn haben.
Der Film zeigt eine lange ungekürzte Sequenz aus Krakulice, wie sie im künftigen für 2011 geplanten Film "Schmalspurbahnen in Polen Teil 17 - Die Torfbahnen der Firma Hol Las" in dieser Länge nicht zu sehen sein wird.

It is the new Chicago/St Louis High Speed rail. Costing only three billion dollars. It will be called the Coquille D'escargot in honor of the French designer. Construction was slowed because qualified bucket men for the spreading of sand was limited by accidents, some of the bucket men were to slow and were getting run over..

The tracks wouldn't need anti slip sanding if the rails were properly laid, on a straight, flat trackbed. The engine might take a load a bit easier if it didn't have to fight all the friction from twisted rails -_-

You are correct however these systems are changed so often that a perfect trackbed is not possible. These tracks might be moved anytime to reach a new seam .

It all kind of depends on the perspective of the camera shot. the railway might not be as bad as it looks as long as it stays in guage and relatively even across the railheads. I think back on the geared shays that traveled the timber railroads in the US. The trackage they used was probably much worse and shifting around as the ground froze and thawed. I only wish my model railroads would stay on the track the way this little industrial train does.

Peat is dug from old mire so the earth is soft and tracks easily end up looking like this.
