I say leave his pouch. It helps people get good idea of what Finn loves 💕 and could help aid others with ideas for their own Lesser Tenrecs (or other Tenrec types). That’s more important than aesthetic in my book 😉. And yes, more Finn videos! I could watch him eat those worms for a good 10 minutes (the little chewing sounds?! 💕), butttt that could just be me and my weird self lol!

Lol just leave the nintendo pouch. Its cute and the cage doesnt have to be only things that fit the theme. Also, If Finn doesn't care or notice then that's good enough for me.

Do those types if wheels work for hedgehogs as well? My hedgehog has a wheel that is very large, on an angle higher than the green one you have, and overall harder to clean. (Bucket Wheel) Just wondering because it looks so much easier to clean! 🧼 🧽
@ToriLynnPPH5 жыл бұрын
Yes, hedgehogs can use a 12” flying saucer! They aren’t very sturdy for a hedgehog though since they’re much bigger. People have found they have to replace them periodically.

Hi! I just adopted a hedgie (names him Quillie Nelson). He is two. His previous owner did not have time to handle him this past year due to being pregnant. He is very feisty and does not want to be touched. I watched you video on how to pick them up correctly. He jumps puffs up and grunts at me. I did hand feed him a few meal worms , he loves those. But I can’t bond, I can’t hold him. He has bitten twice. I am determined to give him a better life and to bond with him. I even bought a bonding pouch. Could you give me any advice? Thank you!

i’m going through the same thing currently and i pick mine up with a shirt that has my scent and i put her bath to wash her and i don’t know if it was that she hated the bath but she allowed me to pick her up lol. i also let her out in the day to explore and get used to the area and i try to pick her up as much as possible and it seems to be working slowly, i did research and it says it can take months for hedgehogs to get used to you and i’ve had mine for about a month and a half...just takes a lot of patience and time, think of it from their point of view it’s new scents, surroundings etc so it’ll take awhile especially if they weren’t really handled a lot

I read on a lot of pages that those saucer wheels are very dangerous for their backs? Is that correct? Otherwise, the cage is beautiful!!

Bass equipment makes 3" deep stainless steel pans for the the floors and shelves of the critter nation. They are spendy but absolutely worth it in my opinion. I use them for my both of my rats triple critter nations. They are easy to sanitize, great for loose bedding without the drawbacks of the tubs. They also sell 6" urine gaurds that attach to the bars of the cage. I use those on the back and side walls (but not the front) for extra protective height.

Do you have the Midwest Ferret and Critter Nation cages? If so, what size pans fit them?

Hi Tori! I know this question isn't related to the video, but I had a question for you. I am trying to convince my parents to let me get a crested gecko and my mom says probably and my dad says maybe. I told them that I will buy everything and I'm also getting storage so all of the supplies can stay in my room and it won't be cluttered downstairs. Any tips on how to get them to say yes? By the way, I am 14 and I had a hedgehog that I took care of all by myself and he lived a long happy life, so I am a very responsible person. :)

How much do tenrecs cost??? Love your channel tori!!!!
@ToriLynnPPH5 жыл бұрын
They’re quite expensive in the United States. I’ve see them most regularly for around $700-$800 currently, though some breeders will charge much more. Typically people have to pay shipping as well if there isn’t a breeder in their area which usually runs between $150-$300. And then supplies can be pretty pricey as well.

Hi! I’ve recently had an issue with my tenrec regurgitating and eating it after feeding and I’ve also put a potty area in her new enclosure (we used to have to take her to a hamster cage filled with sand to potty before we built the enclosure) and she doesn’t use it at all, we’ve put some poop in it to encourage her but now she pees and poops in her substrate :( we still take her to go potty in the original box when she’s out. Do you have any advice? Love your channel and Finn

hey um i was wondering does a heat lamp need to be on 24/7? and does a UV light need to be on at all times if i supplement calcium in there water?
@ToriLynnPPH5 жыл бұрын
The heat lamp is controlled by the thermostat, so you leave it plugged in and on the entire time, but the thermostat will turn it on and off as needed when the temperature changes. If you choose to use UVB, it should be on a light cycle regardless of whether or not you supplement your tenrec :) So it isn’t on all the time, it’s on a certain number of hours each day. A light timer is the easiest way to accomplish that.

Yes, I would secure the fleece in some way :) I don’t personally like when my hedgehogs have access to pee pads since they have a plastic backing.

Why's the hamster bedding so low they need at least six inches
@ToriLynnPPH5 жыл бұрын
Gimli has hydrocephalus which has deformed his face and caused him to have a very short snout, a bit like a pug. This means that dust in his cage can and has caused him extreme breathing difficulties and even chronic URI’s. We tried a multitude of beddings for him but finally settled on Yesterday’s News to absorb his urine, and cut up napkins for burrowing. Unfortunately there isn’t a very good shot of the set up in this video, but I have a whole video dedicated to his set up specifically on my channel :)
