Very good review. I bought this same Toro almost two years ago and def some pros and cons. I do like how much steel and quality materials used (steel auger blades, rubber tires , strong durable plastic where plastic is used) ; especially in comparison to some other battery snowblowers. Even the lesser quality ones from Toro i saw some with plastic augers (not sure if Toro discontinued those since i bought this one). I agree the battery life / run time is very good. I have other Toro tools who use the same batteries which is one of the better selling points , to have extra batteries on hand as needed ; though only once have i ever needed to use a spare battery from another Toro tool. I also like due to its being lighter weight i can carry it to walks / paths i never could with other units. I have a commercial Ariens 28 inch gas snowblower that i use most of the time but i bought this as a backup. Thats mainly what this has turned into for me , a spare / backup. My cons with this unit , its mainly for 5-7 inches of very powdery snow or less imo ; anytime i tried it with wetter heavier snow just didn't perform well. And generally doesn't throw snow very far in my experience (not that i expected it would). I live in a woodsy part of northwestern NJ and we tend to get wet heavier snow most often. If you live in an area that gets frequent storms of mostly powdery snow this battery Toro probably more ideal. Also found in the heavier / wetter snow the lack of being self propelled can be a little rough on your back using this machine. The scraper bar is also an ongoing maintenance concern but not expensive or difficult to replace. I'd say its perfect for smaller amounts of powdery snow and ideally more of a backup / spare snowblower.
@AlexBB779 ай бұрын
Also do wish it had the ability to idle , though i believe most single stage battery snowblowers can't. A little tedious it always shuts down once you stop engaging the augers but probably in place for battery saving purposes.

Thanks for watching the video and especially for your comment!! You bring up some very valid points about its strengths and weaknesses!! I absolutely agree, this machine is a beast in dry powdery snow. In my part of the world, this is 99% of the time what we get. The other 1% is slightly less dry. Lol I’ve never had it in wet snow but I believe it would have to work very hard with that kind of snow. A single stage electric blower is not the best option for wet snow. Thanks again for you comment
@AlexBB779 ай бұрын
@ere in a climate like yours its ideal , we tend to get a lot of snowstorms in borderline freezing temps in my area so quite often wet and heavy snow. But i have the large commercial gas 2 stage Ariens for that. This unit is such a good spare for me and got it on a Black Friday sale so saved a good amount to justify as more a backup unit. And whether the rare event I run out of gas or a smaller snow totals type storm where i can get by not using the gas unit (especially powdery snow) ; comes in very handy. Also the light weight is great to be able to carry onto walks / paths or on my deck which is impossible with most any other snowblower.

Just got one of these a few weeks. I've only had 1 chance to try it on about 2 inches of wet slush and it worked well on it. I got it from my local dealer so no thoughts on assembly or warranty since they took care of that. I had a 2007 621 with the rtek engine. It was going to need $300 of work. I just thought it was a good time to switch. No more tuneups or replacing the rubber paddles or pulling on it to start it(That one didnt have electric start). This new electric one did my 3 car driveway, sidewalk and the back sidewalk and patio and had 1 bar left. I did some of it on Eco, but this was a very heavy snow so I ended up going to regular after a while. Overall so far I like it.

I've owned a gas Toro snow blower for 17 years and it did a great job, however it was a two stroke and after a while your clothes were pretty stinky from the exhaust. I recently got this battery powered Toro and I'm very pleased by your video to see that it has the lasting power to do the job. Incidentally, my old Toro chute also didn't go lower than horizontal. I wouldn't count that as a downside at all. I've seen some videos of folks who installed the chute director lever upside down. Then they complain that it was hard to reach. I give you credit for installing the lever with the handle aimed upwards, which is easier to use and reach. I'm looking forward now more than ever to attack the first snow fall with my new Toro battery powered blower.

I'm 55 and just bought my first snowblower, a snowjoe sj625e. In my haste I didn't notice that I need a 2stage to clear my gravel driveway so I'm going to void it's warranty when I take it out of the box by modifying it with homemade skid shoes made from 1" pvc. When it craps out I'm going to go for a gas model for the simple reason that a gas model 2 stage can be had for less than an electric 2 stage and electric 2 stage models are scarce as hen's teeth.

Thanks for leaving a comment! You make good points. I love the idea of your homemade skid shoes. I’d love to see a video of your mods, if you get a chance!! Gas has had many many years to figure things out and they are a waaay cheaper price than their electric cordless counterparts if my driveway was larger and I had more storage I’d definitely have a gas unit. Likely a Honda tracked snowblower. But this Toro 60V, single stage is perfect for my little driveway. So far this year, we haven’t had any snow worth using a snowblower. Very unusual. I got mine in September. Was just able to use it yesterday. Had about 6 inches total but I went out after 3 inches each time and cleared the driveway. I totally agree with you on the shoot, just does not go down far enough, plus it is very ridged moving. Only other minor issue I noticed was heavier snow sticked on wheels when I was trying to clear some snow off lawn for dog. Not meant for clearing path on lawn as it does not have clearance and scrapes up the lawn. My driveway can fit about 8 cars and each time out battery went down to 50% so battery was great at full power with heavier type snow but not slush. No problem clearing out end of driveway from plow either. Overall great machine. I bought it mainly for lighter snowfalls Since I have a bigger 2 stage for big storms. I was just really anxious to try it out. Overall I would give it a 9 out of 10, only due to the shoot not angling down more.

@@rayjack you are absolutely correct. However in its lowest setting it doesn’t go as low as I’d like. Most other snowblowers I’ve used, I’ve been able to lower it slightly below horizontal. Hi nickolastiguan! I love Ryobi tools, but they seem to be struggle if with quality control of parts or assembly with their yard/lawn and garden products. I expect they will get on top of that if they haven’t already. The Toro has been flawless for me. I’m really loving knowing it’s going to work every time. I lost that confidence with the Ryobi units. So far no problems with the Toro, but we have not had any snow this season. At least, nothing a broom can’t handle. So no chance to run the Toro snowblower yet this season.

The question I would have on this snowblower relates to forward thrust. How hard do you have to push through the snow? It does not appear to have a self propelled feature. What happened when you had to deal with heavier, wet snow?
@GeoSphere Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment!! The amount of effort into pushing depends on the snow consistency and depth (amount). My experience is it take little effort, as long as I let the food do the work and not force it. When I do that, it’s like pushing it around the garage when it’s not running. I hope that helps. Thanks again for watching!

Those cheap scraper bars are being treated like a consumable money maker on these snow blowers (ie: designed to wear out). They're not spring loaded and I don't think they're even adjustable. Hey! Thanks for leaving a comment. The scraper at the bottom of the snowblower is plastic. I feel there wouldn’t be an issue on a product like Duradeck. Great review.... but what the viewers need to know, regarding getting any snow blower, is what type of snow are you dealing with? My experience, living in MA is that we get two types of snow: if you are living along the coast (like I do now) we get snow that is heavier to remove because it has more water mixed into it due to our proximity to the coast. It picks up the moisture from the ocean and we get something that I like to call cement. It's heavy and tough to move. But when I use to live in the northern part of the State, it was lighter thus easier to move around (as you see in this video at 3:08). There's less moisture in the snow so it's not as much of an issue to remove the snow. Not to take away from this man's work and review, I just wanted to point out that when you choose any snow blower (gas or electric) the first question to ask yourself is... can it move the type of snow that I get? For me: Can an electric snow blower move the wet/heavy type of snow or do I need a gas powered one? Other than that, great video.
@GeoSphere Жыл бұрын
Great comment. You are absolutely correct. The type of snow is everything when choosing the right tool for the job. In my previous videos about by snowblower woes, I make mention of the type of snow we get here in Alberta.
