Toro Granstand 36" GrassFlap Install and Review

In this video I show you how I installed my GrassFlap Chute Blocker on my Toro Grandstand 36". I love using Chute Blockers to control the debris flying from the opening of the mower deck. There are plenty of people out there that use mowers and their experience could be a lot better with one of these.

A chute blocker allows you to close off the opening of the mower deck while mowing. This allows you to not blow grass in Mulch beds, onto cars, on homes. If you were facing a car and were cutting grass with the mower you would plaster green grass all over the side of the cars paint and possibly dent it or blow out a window if you happened to pick up a rock. Same goes for a house, if you were mowing close to a home you run the risk of turning their siding green or flinging debris breaking window and glass doors that would cost you money to fix or replace. I think for $300 you could spend the money on one of these Chute Blockers and save yourself some time and headaches.

Can you make a short on how the platform folds up with the pedal installed?

I wish I could but I no longer own that specific mower. but where it was mounted the platform lifted up and the pedal cleared the side of the mower, it was close but I did not have to do anything special to make it work. I hope that helps!

Great video. Did you take the full mulch kit off or just the piece on the side? I am thinking about getting the grass flap, but like how the grass mulches with kit.

I took the full mulch kit off (returned it to factory side discharge). The grass flap helps keep debris from shooting where you dont want it. It can also help slightly with mulching (better with leaves, does not “mulch” grass like a mulch kit does). The issue that I ran into with the mulch kit is that it works great when the grass grows at a normal height and is not wet. However if the grass is tall or the grass is wet it does not perform that well as it will clog up badly on the 36” deck. I have friends that have the larger 48”-52” decks and the mulch kit work better on those as there is more room under the mower deck.

Thanks! I like the grandstand and the stand on platforms. I started with a zero turn and have the grandstand also so I get to use both and I can say that the stand on mowers are very versatile for smaller properties. If I was mowing a lot of acerage I would probably rather sit down. As far as the 36” grandstand goes it is a good machine and cuts good (not the best for hills but you can do hills if they are in the right situation). I originally tried to use it with a mulch kit but that just did not suit my needs. It worked fine for dry grass but any other time it would clog and then just be more of a hassle than it was worth so I converted to the grass flap.
