I worked on this but I had never watched it before. It's great! It was a fun day, the producer was a champ. They gave everyone little brass lapel pins and I just found mine in a drawer, which is why I looked this up.

The music and production here is of far better quality than most studio recordings. Done out in the desert. Mind satisfactorily blown. One of the very best bands out there!

Recording in the desert is just as good as recording in the studio. No reflective surfaces, almost absolute silence etc. Tinariwen, for example, records their albums in the middle of the desert. :) Just make sure that the noisy power supply is distant enough and voila.

Trona Pinnacles is by far the windiest location I've ever been to. These guys must have camped out for a week to get a time with no wind. I'm impressed that there's no windjammers on the mics, just some foam on a few.

I remember long ago watching huel howser tour through there and talking about the Trona Pinnacles and how it was a really popular spot but could never picture it and it was my first time hearing about it. Went out there recently at night and saw what the hype was about looking up at the night sky. Awesome part of California, highly recommend the visit.

Camera work was great as was the sound. My daughter alerted me to this because I am a native of Trona. People don't always appreciate stark beauty of the desert. The pinnacles have been seem in several movies and TV commercials, including a Star Wars episode. THS 1960

seen their interview on Fantano and decided to check Toro y moi out, boy am i glad i did, this is the best band i heard in a long while. They have such a diverse sound, going from the funkyest funk to the most head tripping psychedelic in a blink, but always keeping the mood light and sunny. Man what a trip! Man what a treat! Love this and i am sorry i did not discover them sooner.

I saw the Mattson 2 at a local bar earlier in the year and the blew that place apart. I felt like one of three people who knew who they were and no one could figure out why we were so pumped. It was a helluva show, they played this without Chaz but it was still just as good. Also played some stuff off Paradise before it was released. Too notch 👌 Asked them about working with Chaz and they said a super down to Earth and laid back guy.
