The beatles didn't have the technology. They stopped touring because of it, it was years later when paul mccartney performed a lot of their songs live for the first time. They couldn't even hear themselves play at most gigs because the crowd were screaming so loud, so they rarely bothered practicing and thus their live quality was poor to average.

This band singlehandedly shows you how important a bassist can be. The bass fills the atmosphere of these songs so well, I can't imagine them being as groovy without it, honestly.
@davidfinkledrums2 жыл бұрын
Needs more of it too...bout' a good 5 DB. Could round off the low end a tad if it's an issue after that...then it could mesh better with the drums I feel. Tad lil' bit of compression would offer bit more sustain too as notes sure are dying out fast on that Hofner. Dead strings? The shape of the room? Simply undermixed a bit? Hard to say. Strange set up. But still sounding better than many other performances I've heard. Nice pad.
@econogate2 жыл бұрын
Bass is everything, the rest is flourish and spectacle, bass provides the groove and feel and rhythm and the drums keep it in motion. Vocals, melodies, harmonies, solos and synths are the icing so to speak on a bass and drum cake foundation.

Damn. This reminds me of when the band I was in moved in together. During the week, we’d write songs, rehearse, smoke weed, have our girlfriends over and listen to lots of music. Then on weekends we’d go to venues across Manchester and Liverpool and play gigs. We were all broke af but I was incredibly happy. This album in particular makes me remember one night when everyone was staying out except me and the guitarist. He came home and said "man I’ve managed to get hold of some LSD, do you fancy tripping tonight?". So we put all the sofa cushions on the floor, got a load of blankets, lit loads of candles so that was our only light source, and finally we had a sound system auxed into a laptop with KZbin. It was an incredible night. We tripped balls and laughed our arses off. Something about this album resonated with us, because we must have listened to it 4 or 5 times that night. As a result, I’ll always have a special place for this album, with Alter Ego being my favourite track from it
