So let me get this right, there isn't enough housing cause they aren't enough housing starts cause people can't get approved for loans cause of interest rates. So if they lower rates more people will qualify for a home but that may drive up demand and prices for limited amount of homes. What gives. What a crazy market! I guess the mountain of mortgage renewals coming up will be converted to variable rates to avoid losing their homes. Any thoughts on Ottawa market when Pierre polievre gets elected and starts gutting the government workforce or will he really slash lots of government jobs?

We are growing the population faster than builders can get homes started/built. And yes the high interest rates are making a large number of projects untenable right now. As for the Ottawa market is PP does slash the federal service it would likely put downward pressure on prices. Usually they don’t slash the workforce then instead let it dwindle through attrition. If they go that route it probably flattens off the market more than pushing it down.

We've sold our detached 9 months back and the last week price for the sold property is almost 59,000 down from the sold price. I'm so glad. Moved to Costa Rica and enjoying my retired life.
