Video footage of a trip to work on Friday, September 25th, 1987 from 9:20 am to 9:35 am. I start on Kippendavie Ave. (one street east of Woodbine) just south of Queen East, loop around the beach, up Woodbine to Queen, east on Queen past Greenwood Raceway to Coxwell, up to Dundas then east to church. Incudes a four minute non-stop run from Coxwell to just over the Don River. 2of3 • 1987 September 25th: T...

If that was your residence in Sept. 1987, I can only imagine what that bad-boy would list for in 2023. The days when you could affordably live close to downtown Toronto and park your vehicle on the street where you lived. Thanks for the fantastic video and great memories.

Thanks for the comment! Yeah, I lived at 1911 Queen East from '85 to 2000 in an outdated two bedroom above a pottery shop and never had to pay more than $400 a month. Those were the days, eh?!

I moved to Toronto in 1985 ,was 22 and fell in love with the City . I’m still here but now the City looks different and the people act different .Now I’m considering leaving the City for good or a few months in the year .The City is not the same in all aspects or I just may getting older and be slower accompanying all these changes .The City was great for long bike rides with something new at every corner .Now is just glass towers devoid of human feeling .I miss old Toronto .

Im sorry you feel that way. I was born in T.O. after you moved here, and I have to say, I love how the city has turned into a megacity while keeping its small town feel when interacting with locals. Shedding our small town persona for a megacity one is something to be embraced.

Wow! This is an incredible video, I was celebrating my 12th b-day then. If you listen to the radio at 6:10 the radio d.j. talks about the Jays vs. Tigers, I was at that game at Exhibition Stadium. My dad got tickets and it was my first ball game. The Jays came from behind and rallied in the late innings and won 3-2, one of the best memory's of my youth. Thanks so much for uploading this, I have to show this to my father. lol

Was driving the wife to work on this same route at the same time. My kids don't believe me when I said I could get downtown in ten minutes. And a single construction crane caused people to stop and gawk. My '72 Buick Le Sabre was my magic carpet. Ah those were the days. Thanks so much for posting.

So Glad I seen this video, grew up in the beaches, The Olympic pools, Greenwood racetrack, Couldn’t believe when you turned left on Queen, than right on coxwell, pretty much the route I rode my 10 speed home to Ashland Ave, sometimes cutting through Orchard park boulevard, in the 70’s instead of paper routes we hustled Programs at the track, asking for them as people left than re selling, we moved in 1980, I still came and went till 86’ , very great-full for growing up beaches , thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Filmore's is still there -- and you can even rent hotel rooms in it...not necessarily for what you're thinking...but then again, I wouldn't know -- we're thinking of housing a couple of film crew there as part of research of the TV Series we've been developing on the era.

Because then he'd have to do a strange U-y from where he was starting...and now they likely don't permit that and have a concrete barrier installed...that little part which sticks out as Lakeshore hooks up to Woodbine.
