Move Marner to D, now you match up fine. Erik Karlsson has won a Norris and carried the Sens to a conference final. Is Marner really worse defensively than Karlsson? If the answer is no (it's no), then he should play D, now you have a right hander, everyone on that side moves down, you have a spot for Jarnkrok and Robertson. If it works, move him to D full time, makes that much salary in 4 guys more stomachable if one of them is an elite right handed D.

I started watching hockey the week after Sittler scored his 10 point game, so I obviously suffered through a great part of the Ballard years, but at least those teams could win an odd playoff series. Toronto has one playoff series win since the 2004 lock out season. I want to feel at least the excitement I felt during the Gilmour era or the Sundin era where they at least looked like they might have a chance at hoisting the Cup. I would have included the Sittler years but lets face it no one was really going to challenge Les Habs but we did beat the Isles so that was something.

I don't know what to do with this information, but I think it's interesting. The leafs finished the season with a 46-26-10 record. We went 11-12-3 against Atlantic teams, 11-8-5 against Metropolitan teams, 12-2-2 against central teams, and 12-4-0 against Pacific teams. That means the leafs went 22-20-8 against Eastern Teams and 24-6-2 against Western teams.

However, in terms of strictly on-ice production, keeping pace with them in points and two-way play is exactly what we need. It's next-man-up mentality. I mean, for fuck's sake, a guy we got on a flyer for 2.2 to be on the 3rd line wing got forced to the center because Poitras got hurt and kept pace with Bertuzzi the entire season. The culture Bergie and Krecho brought is vital to the team's success. The culture did not die with their careers.

While they're huge and great at beating people up, they'll also likely get worn down in the process. From a B’s fan, on paper Coyle had as good of a year as Bergi did in 2023. And I would definitely take the 2024 Zacha over the 2023 Krejci given his age and injuries. With that said I think this series will come down to a game 7 with the leafs finally getting over on the Bruins, I really hope that’s not the case but that’s how I feel.

Here's the thing. If the Leafs don't past Boston and past Florida, and get into the 3rd round, there is going to be major firings. The team won't be the same. Keefe definitely will get fired. Shanahan also, after 8 yrs, will likely get fired. Marner needs to have a huge playoff or he will be traded. Tavares will not be resigned or if resigned, signed for much, much less money as he is no longer the 10 million player as he is getting old. AM34 or Reilly will be asked to be Captain. If Sammy emotionally implodes or doesn't give the Leafs a chance to win, he will be traded. Kampf likely gone if he doesn't have good defensive series.

Are we watching the same two teams? I feel the Bruins have the edge in legit every category EXCEPT top line consistent production. In net obviously, D core in its entirety, not just the top two. I think the middle pairing for the leafs wouldnt even be the bottom pairing for boston. As a Bruins fan that love to watch you reactions, this is going to be a close series, and I felt that Leafs have a good chance to win the series in a long time. Without Bergeron and Krejci, this may finally show the cracks that the Bruins were showing this season. I am impressed with the Bruins this season, and Coach Montgomery shuffled the team around and fill in those gaps. However, the Leafs surpassed the skill gap, and it may be their year to end the Bruins dominance. May the best team win and go B's!
