Many say that Toronto is one of the most pleasant cities in the world (in summer at least).
Canada's economic and cultural capital, Toronto is surprising. Little New York is a city full of diversity, one of the most multicultural in the world, with a very pleasant living environment.

I guess it’s no surprise that this was filmed during the three months when it’s not freezing in Toronto. It also didn’t show the nightmare of commuting around this infrastructure-challenged city nor the unaffordability of housing (= housing crisis) in T.O. Was this promo-film paid for by the city’s tourist board?

oneconscious man don’t be that scusceptible... 🙂 it’s called the little New York, it’s not me who invented it. And for me it doesn’t have a negative sense. Visually it can remind of New York City. It's not like New York. The entire vibe is different. Way different. And that's not even a bad thing. The only similarities I see are Grand Central Station/ Union Station and Times Square/ Yonge Dundas Square. And this is when Toronto is trying too hard to be like New York. Toronto, just be Toronto.
@mtesc6516
@mtesc6516 4 жыл бұрын
I don't see why being compared to New York would be insulting.They have gotten their crime rate under control and I think their transit system is better organized than ours. I'm from Toronto and that wouldn't bother me one but. I have never heard it before but that's okay. We are probably more similar to Chicago I would say. We are on one of the great Lakes and the Climate and way of life are similar.Our way of speaking would be similar to the midwest and not to New York or it's Burroughs. Our crime stats are climbing and might one day hit Chicago levels,because our politicians are incompetent.That's the sad part.
@barisk6855
@barisk6855 4 жыл бұрын
That comparison is wrong because one; Toronto definitely is not little and two; it doesn't have %10 of New York's charm and energy. But you can maybe say wannabe New York, that'd be more accurate.

Rent is skyrocketing high in the last 5yrs, TTC is one of the worst subway systems especially pollution. If ppl come for sightseeing, it is OK, but the living standard in TO is very poor. Many young ppl live in basement 1BR apt, it cost more than C$1200. above ground floors start from C$1500. something is wrong in TO.

Agreed. I was born in Toronto and moved back in 1999. Biggest mistake of my life. Comparing Toronto to NYC is like comparing water to the finest champagne. NYC is a city. Toronto is a town with skyscrapers. To show you how backwards Toronto is, NYC had its first subway 10 years after it incorporated. Toronto? 70...years!?!? That's right. It took this backwater burg 70 years to get its first subway installed. Visit Paris, Kyoto, Nara, Nikko, Warsaw, Krakow, Prague, Kiev, St Petersburg, Boston, Chicago, New Orleans...places with history. Toronto has none.

Bon courage 😉

Like all cities, it has its positives and negatives. It's got some shitty things about the city, it's not all good. But overall I'd say its friendly enough and is a city growing rapidly, it's got its charms and what not. But compared to some of the major famous cities like London, or Paris, or New York or Rio...Toronto its lacking a bit of character, scenery or history. But it's mostly safe, nice and while it's land property is expensive....its not quite as bad as London or NY or Paris...at least not yet.
