Ive always found it weird that line 2 trains go faster than the newer line 1 trains...
@MatauPlays Жыл бұрын
I really enjoyed watching and listening to this as I rarely get to ride the western section of Line 2! Also, I like the use of the graphics at the bottom of the screen to display additional information. I have a few questions regarding filming, if you don't mind. What video and audio equipment (if applicable) did you use to film this? Did you put the camera up against the window or was it mounted on the front of the train? Is the rattling noise because of the camera tapping the window as the train moved, or was it because of some other issue on the train? How come the sound of the motors didn't get picked up? Did the filming permit require any paperwork or payment? Thanks!
@GrandRiverTravelTransportation Жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the video!! :) To film I use a suction-mounted NextBase 4K dashcam and an Anker brand battery pack attached to a suction mount to power it. The largest SD cards can hold up to 8 hours of footage, so I don’t need to change the card on even the longest transit lines. The camera is mounted inside the train with a silicone lens hood to block out the light from inside the train. The rattling sound is actually the window pane the operator opens at stations while on guard duty. The components of the Line 2 trains aren’t exactly ‘tight-fitting’ anymore and the window was making that sound and the wind was whistling in the tunnels as well in spots. Not sure why the motor sounds were not picked up. Filming did require a permit from the TTC, that costs $250/day (if I recall correctly), plus the cost of filming liability insurance. I also paid costs for a TTC supervisor to be present liaise with the trains operators and supervise the filming.

Interestingly, I'm the same way with the eastern half of Line 2 (as my commute usually takes me from Kipling to St George to Union), so any time I'm out that far feels like a bonus!

Why does line 2 have so many curves in real life, despite it being striahgt on all maps? Does it oscillate across bloor street?
@GrandRiverTravelTransportation20 күн бұрын
Line 2 is ‘mostly’ just north of Bloor Street but the distance north of the road is not consistent, it does weave back and forth a bit, and Bloor Street itself isn’t perfectly straight, either. Turn on the ‘transit’ layer on Google Maps and it shows just how curvy Line 2 really is.

The distancing restrictions have been lifted so the seats at the end of the train are open again. Just keep in mind that I had a TTC film permit while filming this, I was checked by TTC staff more than once to make sure I had the permit while I was filming.
@3985uprr2 жыл бұрын
@@GrandRiverTravelTransportation how did you get permit. I’m only using an iPhone. Does that matter? So many people use iPhones to video
@GrandRiverTravelTransportation2 жыл бұрын
You would probably be okay, but I’m not an authority on TTC policy so don’t quote me on that. I just knew I was going to be making a fairly significant film production on all four TTC lines and also needed to mount my camera on the vehicles so I made sure all my legal and liability obligations were covered. Here’s the TTC’s filming page… www.ttc.ca/doing-business-with-the-ttc/filming-on-ttc-property
@3985uprr2 жыл бұрын
@@GrandRiverTravelTransportation Yeah that sounds much more involved. I contacted the TTC anyway just to see what they say. I would love to make a head end ride on Line 2 because I put narration on my videos with a lot of anecdotal stories and humor and being an American and I have a lot of Canadian stories to tell. I’m a very pro-Canada American!!!

@@GrandRiverTravelTransportation I think because of the way you were filming is why you needed a permit. I believe if someone is just using a smart phone to video, there should be no problem.

@johnutube5651 Жыл бұрын
Why is taking for ever to reach next station this long. Train is supposed to be 80kms. per hour. The whole distance should take 15 mins to cover that distance. If you factor in stops add another 10 minutes. It should not be more than 25 minutes.

This is either really good animation or really poor videography. Too many signals show switch set while train continued forward. Hmmm.....

Are you confusing the Lunar signal with a Yellow signal?
@brianmcdonald65192 жыл бұрын
As a Torontonian who has ridden the subway hundreds of times, I can assure you everything was proper. Videography was great, and all signals were appropriately set. This was most definitely a live video, no animation whatsoever!!
