Marner has spent much of his career with Matthews and they have great chemistry, but that doesn't mean they'll be split up at some point. Don't think about the money. They are recreating the magic of Bertuzzi Matthews Domi on all 3 lines. Most teams have 2 stars and some depth. Imagine 3 lines of elite centers with wingers who create chaos and open space. You basically have 3 top lines and one line that just wants to push you around and wear you out.

Personally I'm curious to see what Chief does if Bill reverts to 'half-ass it Bill' coasting to the bench on a change that requires urgency, or dogging it on a backcheck, or not applying the required detail vis-à-vis positioning (F1, 2 or 3) as needed as the 2nd line centre (assuming that actually works). Look how Sammy was treated when he got them to the second round vs the start of last season vs towards the end vs the playoffs. How some can jump on the bandwagon so quickly amazes me. Guys like Justin Holl didn't deserve the hate but Keefe over played him. It was clear that he did not belong in the top d men and was consistently bad for years, but Keefe kept putting him in. Marner has been a consistent player year after year but between the hate, trade rumors and expecting him to take a massive reduction contract, most are completely clueless on just about everything. Marner has also set Matthews up for about 90% of his total goals scored.
