Great video, humbled me into knowing that it's an upgrade I don't have the means to do myself before I tried lol 😅

You need to use heat gun first then use hammer, for any things stuck in the car use heat gun to expand metals

I was looking to add this to my 06 WRX. Instead of a LSD. I understand it's noisy, but not really worried about that. My biggest concern is street driveability. This car is a daily
@TorqMastersIndustries11 ай бұрын
Most of the 06 WRX's have a viscous limited slip rear differential - our lockers won't work with that case. You would need to swap in a used 5 Bolt style R-160 with matching gear ratio to run our locker. Our lockers are designed for on and off road use, most of our customers install in daily drivers.

@calfolkionized we do not do installs at our shop, but any 4x4 shop should be able to install our style of locker.

I have your locker in my Forester Sport its great off road and good om road. just a comment you may have to use the Subaru tool to open the axiales. Thanks a lot for this video.

I’m assuming this may affect your stability control system or antilock brakes or traction control especially if the vehicle is equipped with brake actuated limited slip I could be totally wrong just figured I’d ask the question
@tractiontogoanywhere660 Жыл бұрын
No, the locker does not affect any of these systems. There is never a rear slipping wheel, so none of these systems engage regarding the rear driveline.

What oil brand and weight do you use in your Outback wilderness? I have some Valvoline 75W90, but would definitely switch if it meant using something more quality or helping with the locker noise reduction.
@TorqMastersIndustries2 ай бұрын
For Subarus specifically we use OEM recommended oil weight. We've tried thicker gear oil and the locker didn't like it much. For Jeeps and trucks we recommend 85W-140 conventional.

I got the locker installed, but can’t get the axles to snap into place. Was I supposed to remove the circlips out of the locker first? Remove axle circlips? I didn’t see that in the video? Any tips to get the axles to seat in all the way (snap in)?

Any audible clicking varies by vehicle. Our Wilderness is nearly silent. TORQ Lockers in Subaru's are generally very quiet.

I have a 2012 Forester; my instructions did not say to use the red thread locker; did I screw this up somehow?
@TorqMastersIndustries Жыл бұрын
In the video we show best practices, it's ok if you didn't use thread locker, as long as your torqued the ring gear bolts properly.

have you guys experianced any issues with these style lockers on an AWD system? I have a toyota I use for offroad, its not a daily, but does drive long distances to the trails. the center diff is an LSD style. this won't negatively effect any of that?

@ckli5768 we don't recommend our style of locker with TOYOTA AWD systems. It's fine with Subaru's however.

Hi, I tried installing it into a R160 from Subaru B3 to replace my R150 on my forester SH (2012). I also replaced the axels of course. Weirdly, one side ratchets freely when I turn left, but when I turn right it locks up! Same behavior in reverse... When I turn right but go in reverse, it ratchets, and when I turn left and go in reverse, it locks up! Any ideas?

I did, but your support needs detailed videos which, to make, will cost me money to reinstall the diff. I tried 3 different diffs so that's not it.

Depending on the condition of the vehicle and any corrosion, install on a Subaru should take about 2 to 3 hours. Any 4x4 shop should be able to install the locker.
