How long was the 1003 around? It seems like a long time. Its too bad the 1103 has no improvement in range (according to the charts provided), and we've really had no meaningful change in tech or range in these in 10+? years. Electric cars have been improving their range and tech over the last 5 years, with cars now instead of a 80-250 mile range, are now going 300-485 miles on a single charge..but this improvement hasn't shown up in electric outboards. Its as if the innovation in electric boat motors is dead. 10 year old 1003- mid throttle range: 20 miles. New 1103 mid throttle range: 20 miles. Pretty disappointing.

The range is battery dependent for the most part. The bigger jump in range came a few years before the 1003 was sundowned to the 1103. A 916 Watt hour battery became an alternative to the 530 Watt hour battery. The range almost doubled in 2016/17. Motor efficiency is the other part, and is the central part of Torqeedo R & D - making sure that the power in the battery translates to as much thrust at the propeller as possible.
