In the fashion of Handel's "Messiah", the lyrics are various New Testament scripture which highlight significant events of Christ's ministry beginning with his baptism (This is My Beloved Son) then forward to his death and resurrection. In telling this musical story with narration of the gospel, J.W. Peterson takes his audience on a journey to experience Christ's temptation (Man Shall Not Live By Bread Alone), his ministry (He Went About Doing Good), his sermon of blessings (The Beatitudes), his invitation (Come Unto Me All Ye That Labor), his response to the children (Forbid Them Not To Come Unto Me), his triumphal entry (Hosanna), the upper room experience (Lord, Is It I?), his anguish in the Garden of Gethsemane (Thy Will Be Done) , Pilot's offer of exchange for Barabbas (Let Him Be Crucified), his death on the cross (His Wonderful Look of Love), his resurrection (Hallelujah, He Has Risen). The reprise is, "No greater love, no greater love; there is no greater love, nor could there be. Than God's great love, infinite love; love he revealed through Christ on Calvary!" This is a very beautiful and professional rendering of this work. I wish it were an Easter tradition as the "Messiah" is at Christmas.
