This is an old comment but Yes they do. Uva bulb barely release any heat compare to a basking light.

Do not use the compact fluorescent bulbs. They do burn the tortoises eyes, and have caused many to go blind. There are lots of post about them on the tortoise forum. You are much better off using a tube Style which Zoo Med also makes.

Yes. I never new that myself until I went online and looked it up cause I thought my turtle had problems but he's healthy. And I also went to pet co just to make sure and he is 👍 thank God. 😊

Good for a 10-20 gallon tank. When they are bigger they need bigger tank and since it's bigger you'll need a tube UVB bulb that penetrates deeper into the tank as it'll be taller. For this lightbulb I recommend a 10-20 tank and a basking spot elevation of around 5 inches. Even with a mesh screen it'll be fine. Look at the high chart on the bulb
