I like this as a max size personal item bag, I’m also a separate laptop sleeve guy, but their solution here is the best I’ve seen for this type of one section bag. It seems to have paid dividends as far as weight too. I always liked that quick access big “lid” section, like the bellroy venture ready 26. Out of bags that similarly lightweight (vs say able day breaker and bellroy) this is my favorite. Shame about that luggage passthrough though lol, well at least it’s there.

In terms of the card slot pockets, I use a North Face Kaban 2.0 which has a fairly similar design and I use the card pockets to hold a couple things. First, a lil cardholder wallet (just for 3-4ish cards) Second, a standard tray of Ibuprofen and Paracetamol Third and finally, loyalty cards. I don’t want them bulking up my wallet but when I get to my favourite coffee shops I’ll be kicking myself if I forgot them. It’s niche, it’s unlikely to be an intentional reason for Tortuga to include them, but I just thought I’d provide some alternative use cases. Great review as always👍

P.S. I’ll caveat all of that by saying that the slots on the Tortuga might not fit the above (I don’t know the measurements)

I ALWAYS enjoy watching your videos. Even if I'm not in the market for a new backpack or other stuff you review. That being said, I would like to share some constructive feedback about this video. The part where you talk about the suitcase strap...you mentioned that you didn't test this, yet still gave a pretty strong opinion about it. I'm sure from all the testings you've done for other bags in the past this was most likely a pretty well educated guess with very good base to it. However, from a first time viewer perspective, they might think that opinion about the suitcase strap was lazy and not well tested. So next time, just have a loaded suitcase in the studio and test it real quick. That way everything you tell us about in your videos you can say you've genuinely tested it and can help give everyone a safe and respected opinion. Keep up the great work and I look forward to your next video 😎

Interesting, made me thik about my Pakt Commut for the laptop part, it's a bit annoying when bags are full tho, as it crushes the space to put the laptop in

How do you feel the SHELL material is compared to Aers XPAC? It seems like they are almost the same but just different names?
@Nomads.Nation

Yes. Shell is a type of XPAC, and it could be my favorite of all XPACs (minus the fact that it’s a bit on the heavier side)

@@enriquerosado1775 good to know! It’s important for me to point out that very few bags do stand by themselves, and if they do they are typically decked out with padding (and therefore are very heavy)

I am defitinely in the camp of "anonymous bags", and pretty much everything else. I don't pay companies for their products to looking like a f*cking billboard. If the branding on something I will wear or is visible to everyone is anything other than subtle or non-existent then I won't buy it. So, in my opinion, Tortuga nailed the branding here. Koodos. Unfortunately, those water bottle pockets look terrible and cheap. So, give and take, I suppose.
@Nomads.Nation

Agreed on their branding. The water bottle holders are extremely effective imo (granted the elasticity will die over the years)

@@Nomads.Nation the only use i could think of for it was a potential place to put your passport/documents/wallet if you use the bag as a personal item for travel. Whenever I see these types ofbags, I always wonder where I would put my stuff that I don’t want to lose to pickpockets. Ie. smaller, fairly easy to access to pockets that are also a bit hidden. Then again, this is more of EDC backpack for work and not travel, so the passport idea is a bit of a stretch
