After watching over 10 of your videos, I finally took the plunge with this backpack. I went for the 35L size as I don’t really need that much more space and I added the three-cube option as I wasn’t too sure about the big, open interior compartment. I received it yesterday and I’m simply in love with it, can’t wait until I try it out on a one-week trip next Tuesday. As I had commented in one of your other videos, I think your reviews are awesome so it was a pleasure buying it through your link. Keep up your good work!

I actually really love the look of the front of the Tortuga Setout, and am bummed that they changed the design so much with the Outbreaker. To me it looks simple, sleek, and elegant. The loop on the top by the shoulder straps is a GREAT feature to hang the bag on public toilet stall doors for anyone who sits to use the facilities. Wish they'd bring this bag back with a deeper clamshell on both sides and slightly darker interior color to show less dirt. The way you describe the interior materials makes me want to own it!

Hey matey! This has to be the best presentation by far, it is very detail pack full of information & functionality. The sceneries are great too, really dig the alleys, paths & roads, which has brought to my attention. Whcih side of the road do they drive on where you are/were while doing this vid? Really enjoy this segment mate. One item. One focus. Muliple usage. Cowabunga dude, you're stepping up. Hence therefore 2 reason why we watch this channel, one being all your high end packs are functional and two because you have the passion in what you enjoy doing and that is educating the viewers all over about a simple pack that will make any traveller's experience the best journey/adventures there is. Double Cowabunga matey. Good luck in future endeavours. Stay safe. Stay true.

Front organiser pocket has other downsides. 1) it has pocket on top of pocket and a larger one behind. All are flat and effectively take the same volume. Even very thin items interfere with each other. 2) the 35 litre and Setout Divide (26-34l) work very well as brief case mode (getting in and out of taxi or car). But the contents of these small pockets easily drop out and fall to the bottom of the pocket. 3) The space or volume in front of the pockets is larger enough for rain jacket which lifts the content of the small pockets when you pull it out. In autumn/fall of 2021 the Setout products are not listed as available. Only the heavier sail cloth Outbreaker three backpacks. X-pac versions of any of these with an organisational pocket with depth would be knock out - tough lighter x-pac and the awesome straps hen well loaded or after hours of walking around before going into a hotel to shed the weight.

I have this bag and it's OK. Definitely good for weekend travel or if you are truly a 1-bag traveler, but if you prefer bringing a carry-on and a small backpack, it's pretty hard to do with this. The whole selling point of this bag is the fact that it's basically a carry-on backpack. Personally I like to buy gifts and food to take home and I find that the 45 L is ever so slightly too small for that and all my other shit, so I bring a 2nd bag. But now I have to hold one of them and carry the other on my back. When my wife and I travelled to Japan for 2 weeks (seems so long ago now), she had a roller bag and a regular backpack, and she was way more mobile than I was. I was struggling with walking long distances carrying this massive bag. When used as a backpack, it's comically huge, and I was definitely not comfortable after 15+ minutes.

Why wouldn’t you leave it at the hotel or hostel and just use a day bag with the necessities for that day¿?

Why would you even be carrying the bag for 15 minutes?? Home to airport, airport to hotel. Unpack. Done. Use a small daypack for exploring. 🧠

@@mrb8950sounds good until you go from hotel 1 to hotel 2, or if you live somewhere that's a bit of a walk from the train to the airport. I can think of endless scenarios where you'd need to go more than 15 minutes with all of your luggage. 🧠

Great videos on these higher end backpacks. I also have a question: can you tighten it at the top to bring it closer to your shoulders so that it sits tight on you rather than hanging uncomfortably away from you? I seem to remember some other review saying that you can't do that, but I wonder if they updated it in the meantime.
@Nomads.Nation3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the nice comment! And yes, you can tighten it a bit, but how much it tightens depends on your body type, as well as any changes/upgrades they have made to the packs

Heading to Europe in June (Dublin, Dubrovnik, wedding in Belgrade, and Barcelona) for about 15 days. I’ll need to be carrying my wedding shoes and attire. Do you think this 45L is too big? Also I’ll be flying between countries, think I’ll have a problem with this as a carry on? This is my first trip to Europe and there’s so many backpacks out there my brain is F****ing exploding 😂.
@Nomads.Nation8 ай бұрын
I think 45L is too big for budget European airlines, so you’ll probably have to check it. Take a look at the dimensions of the bags of the airlines you intend to fly and the dimensions of the bags you are interested in - that’s a good place to start. Alternatively, if you want a bigger bag to carry more stuff, just accept that you’ll have to check it sometimes

Nice Review. I'm about to buy one and I'm torn between Setout (35L) and Aer Travel Pack2. Which one you suggest? (Max 35L for me as I'll use on low cost fly in Europe). The problem is that there are lot of reviews of this 45L and the main point for all(and yours) is that is massive... so I can really rely on same pros/cons for the 35L. (You did forget the pc poket but is ok, really good review). Pleasee tell me your opinion
