What made Torvill & Dean stand out from all their competitors was their absolutely perfect unison. One expects every top dance team to be excellent technicians, have strong musicality, and hopefully great presentation skills, but I cannot think of any other top team that had Jane & Chris' eye for detail and stunning unison in footwork, leg extension, arm movement and head movement. Absolutely amazing! Thank you for posting this.

In my opinion it was close between Mo&Mi and Regoeczy&Sallay. I had Jayne and Chris in 3rd place. Linichuk & Karponosov behind it, they were already past their climax.

IMO they were robbed in 2 of the 3 Olympics they were at. This one too in that I would have had them winning bronze. I would have had the Hungarians win and Moiseeva & Minenkov 2nd. Linichuk & Karpanasov did not even deserve to be on the podium with their awful, boring, simple, and slow free dance that even had a huge trip by her.

I am a big Min and Mo fan, but I think T&D's 1980 season free skate program was more technically difficult. When I first saw this routine years after the fact I was very impressed. Blumberg and Seibert's 1980 free skate was also very impressive. 1980 was an important year being the culmination of Linichuk & Karponosov, Moiseyeva & Minenkov, and Ragoecy & Sallay's amateur career and the beginning of the peak for T & D and Blumberg & Seibert. The 3 Olympic medal winning couples all should have retired after 1980. When L & K came back in 1981 the judges quickly showed them the door and M & M were sent packing at the end of 1982. The judges had had enough of them.

Нет. Просто они были новенькие и им тупо зажали оценки. Придержали на всякий случай. На следующий год уже не придерживали. Они лучшие до сих пор!!! С 81 до 84 они всегда были первыми, а после олимпиады ушли в профессионалы, и там пока не ушли тоже били лкчшими. И до сих пор танцуют хотя оба на седьмом десятке!!! Им первым поставили все 60. И потом в профессионалах все десятки. Они лучшие были есть и будут на все времена!!!
