I too have just bought one of these, tape stuck in it, messy belts, hoping to get it working.

You need a good machine, that one needs a lot of adjustments...Do you have a scope and a service/correction manual?

Hi I have a scope, no service manual. Did you watch the video until the end. The only problem I know that it has now is that the audio warbles. I thought it may be a worn capstan. Do you think some adjustments would help this?. Appreciate the help.

Thanks very much 🙂 one of my two machines stops after playing for a moment. Even after the captain motor repair. Reed switches are clean so I was stumped at that point. I need to investigate further.

I just realised I thought we were talking about the Sony SL3000. 😆 This Toshiba still has a problem in that the audio warbles sometimes. I have not found the fault for that yet. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

@@RetroGadgetMan My SL3000 won't FF/REW (doesn't energise the motor in those modes) but otherwise works. I think I've run out of time to work on it, if you fancy it for spares/ repairs (and really should be repairs!) then let me know. Intermittent audio warble on Tosh, tricky. Warble is too fast for problems with A/C head, so it's either the motor or something wrong in the capstan servo. If you need to borrow some or all of my scrap machine, let me know.

Thanks appreciate the offers. I managed to build one working Sl300 out of three. Just have a tracking line across the bottom of the image to fathom out. The Toshiba is intermittent which makes it harder to find the problem. I think it maybe a servo board problem but I'm just guessing. Even after an hours playback it's still warbling.
