As a lead guitar player I’ve always admired and had more respect for rhythm players. Nobody will listen to someone just shred without a foundation underneath them. Guys like Hetfield and Malcom Young are the true heroes, and I would place Javier in this category as well.
AAL is feeding my musical intellect so much it's gonna take me a lifetime to digest. Thanks for the amazing music guys....

Ikr. I had been getting kinda tired of all my usual rotation. And around that time Spotify decided to play me AAL when o was tripping balls and it blew me away. I put on their 2016 album and I'm gonna be stuck on that one alone for a while. There's so much here that I just wasn't getting with my usual stuff. The placement of the guitars down low gives such a unique texture and sound. And tosins pickups are next fucking level. When I heard the brain dance my first thought was what the fuck pickups are those. I could hear everything, and when played by this guy, that's just beautiful. Such good stuff. Really inspiring, and shakes off any staleness I had in my own music writing. Now my brain has crazy rhythms bouncing around in there.

I get the difficulty aspect of this style of music, but thus isn't something I think really anyone outside of the guitar community would listen to. There's no real continuity of a theme here. Every few bars it's more tapping and thumping. No lyrics...just not my scene. I appreciate the level of talent but I think this skill level needs to be mainstream and that all starts with songwriting.
@someguy74482 жыл бұрын
well, that's just the thing. this is Djent. pretty much no-one will listen to this that isn't already neck deep in the jazz / prog scene. There are themes within the music, and they specifically don't have a vocalist for that very reason. To let the technique and the music speak for itself. and besides, when you're writing music that shifts rhythms as much as these guy's music does, most of the time, vocalists will have a hard time finding their "place" in the track, if that makes any sense.
@Metaliconian2 жыл бұрын
I imagine if Tosin wanted to be mainstream it would've happened already.
