LYRICS: Pay attention to the mixed vowels "dei fiori", "dei tuoi splendori"
Rhythm: come un'amica face (sheet music shows triplet and then 1/8 but when spoken, aMIca sounds awkward so I would consider singing it: Co1/8, me'un 1/8, then triplet A MI CA.
Remember that "Dei" is masculine plural of "del", Delle and this is because Italian has genders for their nouns. Then you have to consider your intentions when singing this but to be safe, I would just sing it as it is written, as it is not necessarily a song of romance but a song of some Ideal.
"And the solitary room was full of you,
Of your splendors.
Captivated by you,
By the sound of your voice"
Io ti seguii
Com'iride di pace
Lungo le vie del cielo
Io ti seguii
Come un'amica face
Della notte nel velo
E ti sentii nella luce, nell'aria
Nel profumo dei fiori
E fu piena la stanza solitaria
Di te, dei tuoi splendori
In te rapito
Al suon della tua voce
Lungamente sognai
E della terra ogni affanno
Ogni croce
In quel giorno scordai
Torna, caro ideal
Torna un istante
A sorridermi ancora
E in me risplenderà nel tuo sembiante
Una novella aurora
Una novella aurora
In te rapito
Al suon de la tua voce
Lungamente sognai
E della terra ogni affanno
Ogni croce
In quel giorno scordai
Torna, caro ideal
Torna un istante
A sorridermi ancora
E in me risplenderà nel tuo sembiante
Una novella aurora
Una novella aurora
Torna, caro ideal
Torna
Torna!
Translation:
I followed you like a rainbow of peace
A long way across the sky;
I followed you like a friendly face
Of the night under a veil.
And you feel it in the light, in the air,
In the scent of the flowers;
And the solitary room was full of you,
Of your splendors.
Captivated by you,
By the sound of your voice
A long time I dreamed,
And all the worry of the earth, every cross
In that day is forgotten.
Return, beloved ideal,
Return for an instant.
Give me a smile again,
And to me the sparkle of your countenance
Will be a new dawn.
... A new dawn.

TIPs:
Pace the dynamics in the piece so that the F in the end is the climax. Most of it should sound very precious. Pay particular attention to the climb right around the staccati "e a me risplendera" and anchor the accents right before the cresc into the forte.
The accents and "Una novel, "l'aurora" on the repeated A4s are difficult because they have to bulk up into that forte. I would be already at a Forte on that phrase because of the range. Opening into the F5 (from the repeated A4) is going to be an automatically brighter and louder sound anyways.
