In this video I will show you how to take on the Arachne Swarm with some effective tips and tricks. Which Bonuses to select and how to level up your captains in the attack. You are going to die. Troops will be lost. Make sure you have sacred potions or gold. The more you have, the more you can attack!

i recently dug my nose into how battles work and this is the best method i found that works. lets say you have an army that contains guardsmen up to tier 3 and 500 monster hunters (mercs). the fighting system works like this: the first hit is always a 50/50 and the epics will always prioritize the unit with the most TOTAL health. Meaning if you have 100 spearmen 1 they will have a total HP of 150k hp( 1 spearman tier 1 have 150 hp). so if you want them to be attacked first, all other units total health must be under 150k hp(PS bewere that Riders have double the HP -10 as the spearmen/archers). i usually base it on how many mercs i have on me. lets take the 500 again in this example. i wanna do 5 seperate attacks, so i will go with 100 mercs per attack. 100 epic monster hunters has a combined HP of 609k. so my attack would look something like this: guardsmen 1 spearmen 4080 troops = 612k hp guardsmen 2 spearmen 2262 troops _ 611k hp guardsmen 3 spearmen 1270 troops = 610k hp mercs 100 = 609k hp this is what i would need per attack. this will ensure that my mercs (that are the strongest and does most of the damage) wont just be attacked first and die, but also gives me the chance for the mercs to hit twice. you see after 3 waves the rest of your strongest troops will all attack at once, meaning there is a change that you hit with 3 different kinds of troops and only lose one kind (hopefully not the mercs first). so by adding more layers, the bigger the chance of you hitting many times with strong troops. if you dont have that kind of recources i would recommend to go like this guardsmen 1 spearmen 4080 troops = 612k hp mercs 100 = 609k hp just to make sure that the mercs do get attacks in and not just dying instantly without getting a hit off ( thats just waste of troops). throw in as many layers as you can spare, with spearmen/archers/riders. dont bother with monsters, they are too expensive to just throw away. this only works vs epics though, so dont go and attack a common 10 inferno squad and expect the same result, it doesnt work that way. hope this detailed explanation helped you out :)

@@balooc2 This strategy works also for normal battles, isn't it? Always count the total health of the squads and then decide who will receive the first blow!

I get how for epics this math needs to be done but for most monsters, there is no way I am doing these calcs. I just use whatever guardsmen they don't have bonuses against in a large number, and mercs as my 2nd tier. Monsters can act like mercs too - this is poor man's way of doing it.

@@mrvk39 vs common monster just check what they are strong against and send whatever they're not strong against. like are they strong vs ranged and melee, send riders etc. vs Rare monsters you just have to overwhelm them. they always have something to do damage to you with.

Whats the point of leveling up all captains? I usually keep 3-4 captains for battle and another 3 -4 specialists (for crypts, for mining, research/construction). The rest i don't ever use or need to use. I'd rather level up 6-7 captains to level 50 vs. 16 captains to 25.

Each captain has a particular strength. As you raise their captain level, the bonus you receive from them increases. Plus the higher their level, the more troops they can bring to battle. The best part of the Arachne Swarm event is you can bring all 3 captains at once. So you can use your high ranking captains on the same march with the lower ranks and it will exponentially boost their level.

@@JackHammerJoe yes, i totally get why Swarm is great. You did a great job showing it. My question is why spend precious resources leveling up all captains to relatively low levels vs. just a few captains to higher levels? You can't take more than 3 at a time. Maybe if you are like half a billion might, you might as well level up everyone because you have nothing else to do. But if you are trying to get to that 1st million or 2 or 3.... why the need for 20 captains?

Every time you level up a captain you get “might” points which is what you need to get up to that first 1 or 2 million. Also, in the “Hall of Fame” section you get additional bonuses based on number of captains you have at certain levels. All of it helps in the end. I have 3 or 4 captains which I predominantly use. Then I mix in some of the lower level captains in specific events to grow them.

@@JackHammerJoe i see your point about HOF. I didn't think about it, but yes, it does depend on levels of all captains. I am starting off at around 1mil might. And, for practical reasons, I have been cracking up on my ayde/ramses/cleo for battles and on stror/crarter for specialties. But maybe, I'll start leveling up more now. Thank you!

It is a very tough strategical game. When I started I had no clue what I was doing. I didn’t even realize there were specialties for each captain. I just picked 3 and went with it. I basically started over once I realized. Congrats on your first 1 million!!! I’ve noticed you start to grow exponentially once you get over that hump.

You are too far. Due to the level of your captain and the “march range” bonuses of your troops, you cannot march that far. You need to either build a teleport, or ask someone in your clan chat to build one near the Epic squad. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Yes. Bought with gold. Or you can unlock them in certain events like the Lucky Bazaar when you spin the wheel. Sorry I do not know why this comment did not get to me. Just saw it 9 days later.
