It's a way to pivot, what he does is avoid the content of the question and immediately start talking about a meta conversation, how or why the questions are asked. If he can turn the discussion into an argument about intent of someone then he can endlessly avoid the real question and never need to provide any evidence for what he's saying. Nor can anyone retaliate because you can't prove your own state of mind other than explain honestly what you're trying to do and hope they other person extends some charity to believe you. Except Max never does, he can always re-frame your honesty as manipulation and you literally have no way to defend yourself.

Max did actually admit to lying. He says that “misrepresenting” implies a lie, despite the word not having anything to do with intent therefore that alone cannot imply a lie. But then a few minutes later admits that misrepresenting doesn’t imply intent and that intent is crucial to proving a lie. So he admits he knows that misrepresenting doesn’t imply a lie but lies and manipulates in order to make you think he thinks otherwise and therefore cannot call him a liar. The funniest shit about this looking back is Whick was tossing up, relatively, softballs for most of the interview. He was literally giving Mr. Girl an opportunity to clear things up and he turned it into a debate. Whick was one of the few people that were giving him a genuine shot to make himself look good and dumbass Max shit all over it.

Something I realised about max is that he loves the control and gets off on annoying the shit out of people by ascribing them a position they don’t hold. When you hear “That’s not my position, you aren’t understanding me. You’ve come in with your own preconceived thoughts on my position and nothing will change your mind” (not even facts cause everything is feelings and emotions to max, cause that’s where he is strongest and can manipulate the situation) “It’s really frustrating to listen to you make up bullshit about me” and you respond to that person with “I’m sure it is frustrating” then you are insane, manipulative and a massive narcissist.

How does Mr. Girl spout things like "maybe we interpret things differently" as if it isn't still bad. The same way the girl that said he flashed her misinterpreted what happened, yet he needed to clarify to clear his name and wasn't just "Well we just interpret things differently". There was obviously a damming way of interpretation in that instance, as it is in most.
