Good to hear, I have mine next Tuesday. Update March 26, 2024: I was sore for a few days, but honestly the worst part was waiting for the anesthesia to wear off. I couldn't pee (had the urge constantly, but only a few drops at a time) and didn't poop for two days. By the third day everything was working great and I felt stronger everyday. In fact, this morning the wife and I are headed to the airport for a two week vacation in Germany. I've been doing a lot of walking, yard work and running errands to get ready for our trip the last two weeks. When I return the doc said it's okay to start slowly lifting weights again. Feeling great and I'm glad I had the surgery.

thank you for your post op report. great to hear it went so well. I am going for mine tomorrow. have taken next week off anyway just in case. also a gym nut and the prospect of going without that for a while is stressing me out more than the op itself.

@@traingunner Due to things in my life, and the surgeon’s availability to perform the surgery, I had to wait 5-6 months. This was okay for my situation since my hernia wasn’t that bad, but I did notice it getting worse over those months. Certainly you need to know your body and how it feels with it. I got it because I know that it isn’t going to fix itself, and as the video demonstrated I don’t want to have intestinal strangulation which can be an even worse situation. Pain at worst prior to surgery was a 4/10, after surgery Days 1-4 was a 6-7/10 at worst, then has gone down to practically a 0-1/10 and this is 16 days out

I think people should be aware that yes, you will feel much better after one week and almost completely fine after 2, but it does not mean you are in fact, fine, and that you can resume strenuous activities. The TEP procedure relies on the immune response of the body encapsulating the mesh, and that doesn't happen overnight. Which is why, most surgeons will tell you not to do sports or manual labour for up to 4-6 weeks even. And it will take a few months for it to return truly back to normal. So take it easy, don't jump back into sports or heavy (anything over 4-5Kg) lifting after 2 weeks, give yourself time. If this gets messed up you'll need open surgery for repair and you will be out for months on top of the hospital waiting list. What I found helpful is to stay healthy and active in the time before surgery, don't smoke, don't have any vices, eat healthy. After surgery stay active by everyday walking on the flat, start with 5 minutes and increase each day to where you are back to normal. Eat balanced and live healthily. Do not lay in the bed or on the sofa after maybe the first two days, that will impede recovery. Supplements can help as well in wound recovery, your body needs a lot of things from your food in order to recover, supplements can help in boosting the natural intake of foods. Hope that helps from someone who has gone through it himself!

Dear Nucleus Medical Media, I have a terminology related question. If inguinal hernia appears only on one side of the body it is called unilateral inguinal hernia, if on both sides it is bilateral inguinal hernia. If a patient has unilateral inguinal hernia, but before the surgery the ultrasound examination discovers the presence of asymptomatic contralateral inguinal hernia, is the correct diagnosis still unilateral inguinal hernia, or it changes to bilateral inguinal hernia? Thanks!

@@shaikzakeer8353 I just had one done on me. I was super nervous and skeptical about the surgery but trust me it isn't bad at all. I don't feel the mesh at all or anything abnormal. It feels completely normal to be honest with you. The second day I stopped taking the pain medication they gave me and only started taking two aleves for pain and now I stopped taking anything all together. It's been 6 days since I got the surgery and honestly I have no complaints. I also read that you can experience numbness in certain areas but luckily I have NO numbness at ALL. I couldn't be happier and honestly wish I had the surgery along time ago.

@@captainflash8644 feeling pretty good actually, especially being on only day 4 of recovery. Getting in and out of bed is a lot easier, been walking around the house (2 story), doing little things like making food and washing dishes. Honestly the surgery incision sites, as well as the repair site, have been more bearable than other things. Like my throat has been messed up, I guess from the tubes inserted during surgery. Tonsils are inflamed and elongated, not always the most comfortable to swallow - especially after sleeping for a bit. Also constipation was a problem for me on day 3. Not gonna dive too deep into that (unless you want the details 😆), but let's just say it was a horrible 24 hours.

@@nebong hello! Im exactly 3 weeks post surgery as of today. Overall I'm doing great. I do get some discomfort if im too hard on myself during the day - sitting at my desk working too long, doing too much chores, being out and about for extended periods. The body is still recovering, so I do get worn out quicker. Main thing right now is to not over exert myself, and give it more time. But overall I am not in any kind of serious discomfort or pain. Life is slowly getting back to normal.

Had Laparoscopic bilateral inguinal hernia repair two weeks ago.First couple days was mainly stomach pain then after that subsided it was a couple days with groin pain but nothing to severe.Noticed after a few days I had a firm lump/swelling where my hernia used to be.Surgeon said it’s probably just fluid build up and nothing to worry about. Was wondering if anyone else had this problem?

Eerie how your details match mine. I've also had an egg sized shape come up when my hernia was. I have a two week follow up in 5 days and am hoping he tells me it's just fluid buildup. I don't think I could go through another two weeks of what I've been through. The post surgery constipation lasted about 4 days. What a nightmare.
