Justin, I was watching your conversation with the lady about " if you grow food, you're a homesteader"...my youngest grandson, ( 9), likes to LEARN...anything...lol...so I try to find things for him...one of my passions, is gardening...so I'm teaching him things I've learn from you, Jessica, and others. Guess what? He absolutely loves planting and growing things...I live in a mobile home park...limited space, so like my grandfather always told me, "think outside the box"...so we do...lots of pots...flowerbeds are both flowers and vegetables, and fruit. We have an apple tree ( planted when first grandson was born 14 years ago) strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Squash, Cantaloupe, Cukes, Watermelons, Peas, Tomatoes, Green Beans, and some of the best Wax Beans I've ever eaten. So, I'm guessing, by your words, since we're growing food we to are homesteaders, right? That will make him really happy, lol He's a extremely picky eater...I work at getting him to try new things...gardening is making it easier...he HAS to eat things he grows at least a couple of times..his favorite?? Wax beans! Loves hanging out with his Gram...so have been teaching him how to cook, bake, and build/make things. Would just like to thank you and your family for being such positive role models for people. From homesteading, to how you raise your kids... you're doing Great fella...keep up the good work...😊

Clean up for the farm! Wow, 60 people! Lily is making muffins! She is such a good cook at so young an age! I don't think she'll ever have to have a "burn it up" cooking show! Justin, you really are a good cook too! Wow, long history with the friends you had help you clean out the people barn. Fun interviews at the gathering! Thanks for those. It does look like you had a good time! Thanks for this video Rhodes family!

Oh my I haven’t watched in awhile and I’m so glad I watched today I’ve had a really hard year I pinched nerves in my right hand by digging up a garden at a friends little homestead that he offered to use so he could learn some things from my gardening experience then my knee and hip gave out so I had to get a knee replacement and then my mother passed away unexpectedly 😢2 weeks before my surgery now they want to do surgery on my right hand and I’m kinda on the fence about that. I decided to retire since I wasn’t able to work. The garden did pretty good even without me tending to it the potatoes did great had a huge harvest and my friend was happy he said he had more produce then last year. Anyway now hubby and I are recovering from the big C and have just felt horrible but you have inspired me today to get my house in order so many things that I haven’t been able to get to doing. I’m hoping for a better year next year!!! Love your family I found you years ago when you went on your tour❤❤❤

Where I live, we have black bear. I wish I had a black-bear-proof chicken tractor design like your Chickshaw. Just a thought on protecting the young trees; would barbed wire be an option? In my experience, smaller animals will lean through woven wire, and larger animals will lean over. However, barbed wire can be used to prevent this behavior where electric wire is not feasible.

You need to pick up a few translucent tree tubes for those poor trees. Your animals can see the trees and that's the problem. Wrap them in tubes and they won't know to try to eat them. Much cheaper than the money you have invested so far.

Lol does Premier make an easy fence to put around tree"s. I am thinking there has to be an easier way someone has figured out to protect them. You could move them when you change pastures so you wouldnt have to buy that many. Its a small fence and will take less power to keep it hot.

There are 2 little villages within 7 mi of me. The one in Pa maybe 15 homes while the one in NY has maybe 40. The little Pa village has 3 flocks of chickens that just run free, As for the one in NY it has only 2 but one has over 100 birds in it that just run free. Why do ppl want chickens running free out here? 2 words TICKS, FLEAS. Chicken fine both very good food. Justin u must know this. I let chickens run free on my place. Have 28 cats at this time> Not a tick or flea on one of them. Got 15 dogs same same and like the cats and chickens my dogs have free run of my land and 2 farms up the road and 12 down. Both have dogs too which run free.

I worked with a tree trimmer crew a few summers and our foreman loved it when people who lived close to our jobs asked for the wood chips we produced each day! It saves man hours and fuel costs along with tipping fees for the company. The same thing happened when I worked on a crew that cleaned drainage ditches- if a local landowner requested our dump truck to drop materials off at their fields, our supervisor was more than happy to comply. Now that I live with my son and his family on a small farm I have asked for chips from the local tree trimming company.
