Yea cars in Aus should have their lights come on when the motor starts, not parkers, the low beam headlights, and they should go off automatically when you open the door and the ignition is off. Works like that in my Prado. The number of people driving in conditions like this with no lights or better yet, their fuking parking lights on, is unbelievable. We appeal to peoples better nature to get the road toll down, yet something simple like this would make EVERYONE so much more visible and cost NOTHING if the government just shrugged and told the companies that sell cars here it's mandatory, yep you'd need a grace period for existing cars.

@@Pia-ho9dm why does it bother you that the lights you CANNOT SEE may be running in the daytime? it is so OTHER PEOPLE CAN SEE YOU. it isnt about fashion, or style, or being trendy. its about being VISIBLE. they do on my bike... it doesnt annoy me or give me insecurities. its been mandatory for so long you dont think about it. i DO keep them on highbeam, as i notice it makes all the difference between people trying to kill me every few seconds, and people maybe rethinking that merge or pulling-out... and of course, in response to the OP, i have bikes that are older than the mandatory fulltime headlights. and rest assured, i am double checking that little button every few minutes... just to make sure therye on... along with tapping the indicator button every now and then in case im indicating for no reason... but then again, being out on two wheels, prone to injury, dealing with possums and diesel spills, potholes, hail, heatstroke, frostbite, and the rest of you idiots that get upset about having headlights on in the daytime yet cant keep in your own lane or simply LOOK around a bit... i guess us bike riders just look at operating a vehicle in a different manner...

@@paradiselost9946 it doesn't bother me but it seems like it does for you. I was just saying that it is stupid becasue I can see perfectly on a bright day and having lights on does nothing. You are probably just biased now and believe that becasue you have your lights on and have had less incidents the lights are the things making the difference. It's really dumb maybe it does make a difference but I'm not the one who can't see cars during broad daylight so I will continue to only turn them on when it gets dark.

Yes, I ride and agree that truckers are almost always great to share the road with. Mums in expensive SUVs and tradies are not. I ride a litre sportsbike and am generally respected, but there are the odd few who need some rearranging...

I'm well back from it all, travel the road often AND would not have for a second considered overtaking there. I only move out when the "Total FW" starts his suicide mission to keep an eye on everything so I've plenty of time to take evasive action, and if you listen, you can easily tell that I'm not impressed when he does it, and soon tell him via the two way exactly that..... In my view, many people when passing vehicles going slower than they want to drive, do just that. Instead of overtaking, by accelerating and passing as quickly as possible, to leave the wring side of the road and get in front of the slower moving vehicle, just go past. They do not overtake. They maintain their going faster speed , stay far to long in the wrong side of the road going towards on coming traffic. So dangerous, I fail to understand why they dont overtake , instead of just passing.

Not true, matey. We have shitty drivers like this in WA that cause head ons a fair bit. Anyone who thinks over Easters are bad should come drive in Perth. It'll turn their hair white😂. So much agro and impatience. My hubby's a heavy haulage truckie and even with traffic shut down by pilots and wardens so he can turn a corner or go on the wrong side of the road at intersections, people have *_still_* tried going through. One guy who floored it to get passed would've been decapitated by the trailer and that's what hubby thought had happened until he jumped out of the truck. First thing the guy said to my man was "there wasn't enough warning". Nevermind all the stopped traffic, beacons, cop cars lit up etc. Co-workers had to pull hubby off the guy coz he thought he'd killed someone and was shaken up plus was furious.
