Easy way to check steering components on the ground is have a helper get in the vehicle, key on, engine off, and rock the steering wheel left & right. Watch for separate movement of components. Joints that don't move together without play are bad. And I always pull the belts when checking for grinding at the pulleys and spin each pulley separately and listen

Where I worked at had a fleet of about 19-23 cars. We ended up with a very good deal with a shop. We prepaid for a bucket of 5 hours a month (we calculated that 5 hours was the bare minimum for just oil changes and basic maintenance) with a special price and every extra hour had a 30% off regular price. The only limitation was that we were to brought the car only on certain days/hours that they usually had less work.

I assume you will be the mechanic working on their fleet? Since you will be getting more of these vehicles in the future, maybe it might be a good idea for your shop to invest in one heavy duty lift that can handle the weight of all the equipment in the back of these vans.. but I doubt they'll go for it cuz you'll find a way to get the job done anyway.

@@geoffbell166 It's probably an 8K lb lift and the van is full of tools, putting it above that weight limit. A 3/4 ton pickup is fairly close to that limit without anything in it. The tire place I used to work at had 8K and a 10K lifts. All lifts were major brand and regularly serviced but when you put a 1/2 ton pickup on the 8K the arms would flex quite a bit and it sure looked sketchy.
