The brake fluid flush reminded me of bleeding the brakes on my 1967 Austin Mini Cooper S, put wrench on bleeder screw, apply torque in the appropriate direction, swear as bleeder screw snaps, remove caliper, jam a stick into supply brake line, drive twenty miles to the Brt car dealer to have them remove what is left of the bleeder screw, reinstall caliper, finish bleeding brake system, go have a shower. I learned so much from that car that my four years in high school auto shop did not teach me. I now own a Toyota and it is someone else's problem, I just pay the bill.

I bought a 1987 K20 Suburban (new), and it had the same, crappy, semi-floating rear end in it as this van, but with an Eaton limited-slip system. It grenaded at 84,000 miles, destroying the spider and side gears, all of the bearings, the cover, and badly scoring the (4.10) ring and pinion. I never towed anything, nor overloaded or abused the axle in any way. I replaced the entire assembly with a full-floating axle assembly from a 3/4-ton pickup, but it had 3.08 gears. I installed new aftermarket, super-duper 4.10 gears, new Timken bearings, SKF seals, and a Detroit Locker. I set it all up and installed it in about four hours. I use Amsoil 75W140 full synthetic oil with GM's Positraction additive, changed every 50,000 miles. It's still just fine at 560,000 miles. And counting... ...And I find only the tiniest amount of grey goo on the magnet when I service the unit. GM's 14-bolt semi-floater is pure, unadulterated fecal matter. The 14-bolt full-floater, though, is better than any other light-truck axle extant.

Trailer balls can back off from pulling a trailers without grease on the ball. Rusty couplers can grab a hold of the ball and turn it when turning corners causing it to unscrew the nut. It's nice to see a pro use vacuum bleeding successfully. I used vacuum a few times but was irritated by air escaping around threads. As you say, I should just not worry about continuing air bubbles even with silicone paste on the tube nipple. Pressure bleeding would be nice but even with quality kits there are all kinds of different MC reservoir cap sizes, so you end up needing a whole inventory of adapters. For those who don't do it every day, a two-person bleed with brake pedal pressure works OK. The new challenge will be having the scan tool to relax the emergency brake, the game moves on even if we don't want to.

Smart move by that business having the whole fleet sent in to be maintained and repaired. The cost of properly maintaining and repairing right when an issue arises is far less than the cost of major repairs associated with a brake down. Factor in lost work and income due to break down, towing fees and extra money for more parts and labor, this is the wise choice indeed. The time a break down costs you also adds up as time is money and trucks sitting on flat beds and at shops cost more than just maintaining the vehicle properly. It's nice nice you have somebody come in for work and just let you fix what's wrong and not nickel and dime the vehicle until it fails catastrophically. A smooth ride and a/c do wonders for employees too. When they have a nice work truck/van, they tend to take better care of them and are happier at work. Wise move and it's a win win situation for everybody.

Send your repair bill to the hyway department. There's no reason for putting salt on the roads when there are other products that aren't so corrosive. Get the insurance industry involved. In Washington the department wouldn't screen the sand so the court found them liable for broken windshields. You got one free per year and all chip repair was covered.

You are able to fill the 1 gallon tank with 3 bottles of brake fluid, and be able to modulate your applied pressure with the sprayer handle. I have simple pint Beer bottles hanging each corner and you are able to do entire car at once. just dont apply pressure with all bleeders closed.

@@ivananderzen5287 does it neutralize the corrosion or just spread the brake fluid everywhere. I use brake cleaner to get grime off of the rotors and many other parts of the car.

@@ivananderzen5287 water is good for cleaning brake fluid spills as well. I keep a spray bottle with clean water nearby when I work with brake fluid on bikes.

I would only top up the brake fluid if the pads have been changed, because down the line, the next guy that changes the pads is going to push the pistons back into the calipers so he can get his new pads in and if the fluid has been topped out with the pistons already extended, that fluid will push back up the lines and out the top of the reservoir. Plus, the brake fluid level warning light should come on when the pads are worn, if you top up the level with partly worn pads, the low fluid level warning won’t come on before the pads are down to the backing and they’re wearing the discs out.

If you haven't already, I really think you should make a video on common vehicle problems and how they would be fixed. I'd really suggest women to watch it as well in order to help them not get scammed considering they are usually the ones who are usually targeted. Just a thought.

I’m curious about the procedure of using an air hammer and chisel to tighten up the shaft on a cooling fan after removal and replacement. All the videos I’ve watched involving this procedure show the hex shaft in plan sight and accessible for the use of the proper size wrench, seems a little crude to me. I really do admire the expertise of all automobile mechanics, especially under tough conditions.
