This actually makes me cry....I am so glad that we could actually come together and praise God for what He has done for us. Nobody knows unless they have been in an HBCU band HOW MUCH you pray..to make it through practice. to make it through the show. Just to make it through...I am so proud that I am IN THAT NUMBER and I thank God that He allowed me to see this.. We don't hate on each other all the time. This is AWESOME. I love it!!! And it is going in my favorites.

I remember playing this for the first time in high-school at a graduation. Whew trying to play your instrument at the same time while being moved to tears is an undescribable feeling. Seeing parents in the crowd singing and praising was the best moment.

I remember being there for this. I never would have elected going to a marching band show and leaving a church service. The spirit was all over that place that day.

That is great! Here are the words: "Lord, I will lift, mine eyes to the hills Knowing my help is coming from You Your peace, You give me in time of the storm You are the source of my strength You are the strength of my life I lift my hands in total praise to You Amen, Amen Amen, Amen Amen, Amen Amen, Amen" My opinion of "show bands" just increased twenty points.

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” Psalm 121:1-8 KJV

You know what...this should be a competition...We are playing a tribute to God...and you know what? I liked EVERYONES version. We have come up and teach these new kids how to be more appreciative of what EACH band does. Accentuate the Positive my brothers and sisters....I love this and I praise God that he created HBCU's so that we could play a tribute to him like this on the field. You ALL know if you are in a HBCU band what we go through to be in those bands. Praise God that you made it!

@Gigsteve Thanks so much for uploading this majestic band performance of Richard Smallwood's anthem, based upon Psalm 121. My mother listened to this and cried, in her last years with me, before she went home to be with Jesus in 2014. Her favorite part was the choral treatment with the sousaphones providing the bass and pedal tones....every time I hear this, I cry at the memory. And yet, I feel so grateful that you uploaded this multi-band arrangement of this beautiful anthem. Mom was a trombonist and former band teacher, so this band arrangement meant the world to her.THANKS AGAIN for uploading this...I know Mom rejoices in Heaven with all the angelic host and saints from all ages and all places! TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

Indeed, Mom is in the "Land of Total Praise"; as the scripture says: "...Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, and their works do follow them." (Revelation 14:13) Although we miss our loved ones who have preceded us into Paradise, we know they see and praise God with all the saints of all the ages, of every nation on the planet! :-) And that's the beauty and glory that gives us earthbound folks consolation...we rest in the knowledge that HEAVEN IS A REAL PLACE, AND OUR ETERNAL HOME! Hope to see you there...well, just not right now!

Well said. The talent of some amazing young musicians is being wasted because pop culture is dictating to them that nasty, mediocre music is cool. A hundred years from now, you will never regret one note played for the Honor of Him who created all things and holds our very existence in the palms of His hands.
