This was an absolutely amazing movie, and holds up well even to today. I've used this setup for a D&D adventure before; it's incredible how well the "implanted memories / suppressed personality" plotline works in a roleplaying scenario.

Action film high point. The cool thing about Arnold is his fighting is so credible, and he has the bulk to support whatever the fight coordinates throw at him. Didn't see this much before, and don't see it much today. It's different than superhero fighting etc. This was a high opint.

The first CGI was 1973's Westworld. Tron was 1982 and was the first major use of CGI in a film. Star Trek II, which came out a bit before Tron, had a CGI shot of the Genesis Project which was a planet forming. It was the first scene in a movie to be completely made up of CGI footage.

This Was An Oscar Winning Performance For Schwarzenegger.. It Definitely Was Between Arnold Schwarzenegger & Patrick Swayze. Funny how in that first scene of him killing all those men. He goes to the apt. Turns off the lights and grabs Sharon Stone on both arms. Then says "do you call this an illusion?" Not to be that guy but years of microfractures from operating a jackjammer may well have made his arm bones incredibly dense. It's the same principal as Thai boxers kicking the tree over and over. /shrugs

Keep in mind a good adrenal rush when fighting for your life will go a long way in pain blocking. In real world, a hit to the forearm like that will come back to bite you the next day.

What I have noticed is that most bad guys in the 80's were more aggressive and tougher. (they didn't have to have an explanation of why they were bad, compared to now where they may have a good relation who helps them see the light or some noble cause). Also they would pick actors that looked the part. Now they just remake with inferior ones.

Paul Verhouven wanted Michael Ironside for RoboCop but couldn't get him so they cast someone who looked a bit like him. Then he got M.I. for this AND Starship Trooper. He was great, if old-looking, in NOBODY, the Bob Odenkirk John Wick movie by the actual John Wick writer.
