Seeing this cinematic, after seeing the intro cinematic for vanilla Total War Attila, gives me hope. Like, after how bleak and dark that was, with Rome crumbling and Attila leading the Hunnic horde to devastate everything in its path, seeing Charlemagne here makes it clear that there is light at the end of the tunnel. That no matter how dark the night gets there will eventually be a new dawn.

Guy in full chain mail defeated by a cut to the chest then a guy with no armor on, defeated with a stab to the torso? Chain specifically was designed to stop cuts, it is virtually impossible to cut chain mail like that with any sword. That is why longer and thinner sword points were designed, to get in between the links and break them with thrusting attacks.
@hermanPla9 жыл бұрын
+Evirthewarrior It can still brake your ribcage. Didn't see the sword go through the chainmail like with the unarmored enemy.

hermanPla With a sword? not likely, especially when people wore padding behind the armor, most of the mass is near the hilt. If you wanted to break ribs, you would do much better with a, axe, hammer, mace, or pole weapon. The mass is at the head of the weapon, you can get much more force to be transferred that way.

When you think, Charles the Great (Charlemagne) created a empire which can gather a great part of the germanic people (Frank, Lombards, Visigoth, Ostrogoth, Saxons of Germany... etc) if his children were more competent, the empire could have the most greatest of Europe. Given that this is a period history glossed over as the 'Dark Ages' where it's all dung and stuff, showing that there WAS light in the darkness and that it wasn't all the aftermath of the fall of Rome being smoldering, this is a really great period for Total War to go into. Barbarian Invasion was the kinda-sort in-between of R:TW and M2:TW, but there's still quite a gap. This is a chance to bridge that historical gap so often overlooked and bring it to the forefront. Excellent job on concept, CA.

The War Weariness mechanic worries me. I already felt like expanding in Attila took way too long, with public order taking FOREVER to stabilize before you could move your army out of a newly captured settlement. This made it boring for me, as I felt like I had to just sit in city turn after turn after turn so they wouldn't rebel once I left. I don't see how adding another mechanic that punishes you for expanding or going to war in a TOTAL WAR game is a good thing. I guess I'll have to see how its implemented, but I don't like the idea. Looking forward to seeing the full unit rosters for each new faction though
@TheIceDragon2259 жыл бұрын
+milkandcookiesTW Again, agreed, I also hated how starting out as a non-barbarian power house faction in Attila meant you had to "survive" instead of "conquer", otherwise the Sassanids, ERE, and other powerful factions would declare war on you eventually, but that was still better than declaring war on them yourself just to expand a few provinces before being wiped out by their stacks

I don't know, I'd tread very carefully here. Charlemagne was the greatest asset to getting out of the Dark Ages with the help of the priests/monks but was also a very strict but pious man. He had a great campaign and it will be interesting to see Europe start to rise out of the Dark Ages (until the Vikings made it into another 200 years of sorrow due to their savagery). That being said, I feel that Attila hasn't been customized well so I fear I won't be able to enjoy this as much as I would want to. Also, I do feel a bit peeved off by the trailer by the last part.

+lean chickenwing It's actually NOT a copy & paste situation for the German tribes. Because, in truth, they pretty much all wore the same type of armour, & would employ the same type of battle formations, & would even copy each others cultural & economic habits. Therefore, any particular German faction could easily pass for some other faction! However, where I think CA gets a bit cheezy is with battlefield tactics. The Langobard Horse slayers actually laid upon the neck of his masters horse & would then jump down to cut the enemy horses's legs so that the rider & the Horse slayer could double-team him,.. This is actually how Caesar beat Pompey's much more numerous cavalry force in their final battle, which consisted of Gallic defectors from Caesars own army. Not to mention, Belisarius's Buccellarii cavalry were actually Deployed & field dressed differently & used more weapons than provided in the game!

I consider this to be good DLC content for Attila, seeing that not only was it created after the game was released but also it is what the community have been asking for. As much as I dislike the pre-order bonus for War hammer though I find it unfair that people are negatively rating this trailer purely on that case and most negative comments are only referring to Warhammer and nothing to do with this content. Good work CA, I hope this also brings some further patches to optimism Attila, still rungs pretty bad on good hardware.

JUST ADD THE BULGARS - DONT FORGET THEM CA AGAIN as you have been always done !!! This was the Time of the First Bulgarian Empire.You got no valid Excuses not to Add them exactly in this Time Period...... And Khan Krum the Fearsome of Bulgaria was the Charlemagne figure for Eastern Europe. Both Charlemagne and Krum died in 814ad.

Have you seen the campaign-map to this? The easternmost province is Pannonia.

fun fact: Charlemagne's voice actor has voiced other total war games. The French general from Medieval 2, Napoleon from NTW, French foreign veteran and Infantrie de marine officer from FotS, and all Warhammer games. His name is Stéphane Cornicard and I love this man.

So great until the end... Actually, it was God who orchestrated Charlemagne's rule: "By me kings reign, and rulers decree justice." (Proverbs 8:15) I really enjoyed the trailer otherwise and cannot wait to play!!

You know CA i was thinking that maybe you keep releasing these campaigns as a form of practice for War hammer in the sense that you will have three games that join together seamlessly to form one giant game, but in all honesty this is ridiculous...buying Attila was a big mistake for me, i think we shouldn't even have to pre-order this and maybe you should actually give something back to the fans that isn't 5.99 for these 4 factions
@Biblig9 жыл бұрын
+Majority Hippo what?The normal campaign in attila is great and these expansions arent exactly needed.
@TwoFistsOneHalleluja9 жыл бұрын
+Darius The Great Meh, the huns were way to dumb and bugued. Plus they destroy every IA controlled province they attack which means that once you have destroyed the huns there is basically no decent IA faction left alive and eastern europe is just a bunch of broken provinces that you need to recolonize. Prematurely ended a campaign once after defeating the huns and never played that game again. On the other side, I'm at 30 or so Medieval II campaigns (some unmodded and also a lot of total conversions). Medieval II, Empire and Rome 2 were worth my money, the other ones that came out after Empire were overhyped and overpriced DLCs/standalone extensions.

CA, u can make a total war game about the Han-Xiongnu(Hun) War. There u can use the original hunnic troops and add Han Chinese troops fighting each other. Plus there are Persian type factions in the Westland(modern Xinjiang), Joeson Korean at North east and southeast Asian barbarian in the south

I hope I can play as the Eastern Roman Empire/Byzantine Empire to kick Karls ass. I already kicked the ass of the impostors of the Holy "Roman" Empire in Medieval 2 and showed them what a true Roman Empire looked like and I gonna do it again. And yes, I do know that it is still the Empire of the Franks, but they gonna split into half and turn into France and the Holy "Roman" Empire of German Nation. Wonder if that is going to be in the game. Probably not. Probably in a DLC.

Why are people hating on this ? Attila is the best total war and this expansion will only make it better. Expansions have existed in gaming for as long as I can remember.

CA does too much favoritism they always focus on Europe. That's why we haven't even seen China included yet in any Total War game to date, and they had one of the most influential civilization in the world.
@henriquepires75839 жыл бұрын
+Muramasa S the division of history as we known is european , attila is the start of the middle ages, so it is about europe.... Early middle ages.... If they will launch a game about china one day, the warrior states of ancient china would be a good idea
