History might have been better if Belisarius had been more selfish. There are some historians who contend that the Gothic War actually started the Dark Ages in Central Europe and the Balkans. If he had tried to usurp the Roman-Gothic state after Justinian’s meddling with Narses in Belisarius’s campaign, then a great deal of Roman infrastructure might have been spared. A unified Western Roman Empire may have been better equipped to deal with the Lombards, and also send reinforcements to assist the ailing East in the face of Sassanid and Arab invasions. Imagine the unity that a dynasty under Belisarius would inspire, a man who was a lowly general and outnumbered twice and even three times over in his campaigns. It would be a hard state to break, I would think.

Yup it made my ears bleed and I don't quite understand it either, although many of the TW cinematics have dialogue that, if not usually plain wrong, is often weird/cringey/misleading. My suspicion is that the history guys at CA pass a rough script onto the cinematics team, those are completely separate and take some "creative licenses". Under that theory, they might have been handed something like "You won the battle of Dara, you suppressed the Nika riots" and someone who didn't know better made added a preposition to the second one for aesthetic purposes and it was just never caught/ignored.

Claudio Quintas I believe by the 1st century CE same sex relations between Roman citizens became more common, however, it may still have been taboo "on paper". In the time frame of the game, I'm not sure what their views were especially with the rise and dominance of Christianity.
@TheFlyingPilgrim9 жыл бұрын
Claudio Quintas That's actually an interesting and informative post... but I wasn't entirely wrong, you didn't need to say "ergh lol no, you couldn't be more incorrect." That just comes off as sardonic, especially as you elaborated that homosexual relations did exist, but they were rarely between people who'd consider each other of equal standing. So you didn't have to say that, as you end citing some truth to what I said. And nor did I even state that I was 100% sure on the topic. By opening with you opened with, it kind of devalues the message of your post, as it makes me doubt your credibility if you're making a claim that what I'm saying holds no truth... only to show that it does. I assumed that the Romans adopted similar practices to Greek pederasty. And in the context of this video,the Eastern Roman Empire are being depicted, not the Western Empire. Now, that's way past the time of Classical Greece. And I'm not too knowledgeable on late-Roman history. But come on, dude... you're better than that.

Are there going to be Slavs and Avars attacking ERE from Balkans, because they were for Iustinian while he was on conquest in the West?

neither Belisarius nor Justinian I were the last Romans. Constantine XI or Emperor David of Trebizond if we are to be precise
@VarangianOblast3 жыл бұрын
@Josiah Victor Igne he wasn't the last Roman general. Constantine XI led his men to battle so could be regarded as a general, but I can get your point. A general a title. But even so you are incorrect, John VI served as a general before becoming an emperor.

It looks good but it's a bit on the expensive side for a DLC. The total price for all DLC is now over half the game...

xDagger Welcome to the modern day gaming industry. Enjoy your stay. :P

xDagger It's an add-on. Not a DLC. An Add-on features an entirely new campaign, not units, so it's obvious it's gonna cost expensive. It's like a new game itself

The Eastern Roman Emperor Justinian conquest to reclaim the Western Roman Empire that was lost to the barbarians and restore Rome back to its former glory. Belasarius Justinians General that would do this.

I fully support campaign dlcs but unit/faction packs are just dumb. I will get this one later when it's on discount since it's not a faction pack.

Also people should check out the interview about it on Angry Joe's channel if your still unconvinced! Please can someone respond to my comment :)
