*Update after part 4*, lionheart has since beginning of the Lp Won 5 battles and lost 0 battle. He fought 3 battles himself and auto resolve 2 battles. He killed 7283 men of the enemies and lost 4446 of his own men.

One thing I'd really love to see in a total war game would be the ability to build watchtowers similarly to how you build forts, so if you had an army stationed or even just next too your own tower it can be implemented into the battle map and you could maybe put some archers in it. It could be like a capture point that gives a bonus, but not like one of those capture points that allows you to win if you hold it or whatever. I don't know, that just seems like it'd be a small and interesting addition on top of being able to have more visibility with it on the campaign map and on the battle field. You're videos are great though Lionheart.

+lionheartx10 I know, dead-posting is bad. But I've just finished watching your awesome Arnor let's play and now that Attila... and it seems arcade. The game I mean. This yellow-red icons, how weak units are (they do not hold even for a second), how arcady combat seems, arrows feel like made out of plastic. Is it me, or this game actually feels wierd in compare to classics like Medieval 2?

I just love the vikings, it is nice to see your using your fleet LH! Try to always have one full fleet at the ready. Not only can you use their archers while they are safe from infantry on see, you also see that you can upgrade your melee infantry fast into strong units, perfectly for ambushing forces from behind at the beach. Keep up the good work!

Hi lionheart, I enjoy pretty much your videos. I think that you should to concentrate your ground forces in only one direction and a little distraction for another side, and you put in fight your fleet melee forces too earlier it can be more effective if you stab them into the back when your ground forces were fighting at the gate. I'm just saying that cause archer turrets take a lot of your men. Excuse me for my english, i'm trying and we wait more awesome videos from you.

Yeah agreed. Attacking from four sides is overkill, and meant he couldn't keep track of the battlefield. Once he lost his ram on the northern side, it was time to shift all of that army to the left, where both the towers and the gates have been destroyed. It was epic to watch, but tactics-wise, it was a bit of a disaster.

Pau Griga Yeah but realistically, no one would just leave a bunch of units standing around geting shot by watchtowers xD and realistically, a single person couldn't coordinate an attack from four sides. Though I guess not pausing is good practice for multiplayer battles.

Hello mate!Great video! My first camp. Was with the Danes. So I would advise you to do few things-use more spear infantry then the melee one until you reach to a better infantry by tech. Have an army in every city that is counts as a border as a defensive army. And as allways keep your army based in a city or camp during winter. GL mate may Odin guide you.

They're not that bad with the Danes, especially as you're unlikely to be converting anything. You just loot and occupy, repair the main town (which at most tends to cost about a half of your sacking funds, though when I recently looted a city with a fully upgraded looting general I made 6k) and then demolish everything else in the town rather than repairing it.

Maybe. Some of the settlements I've sacked the repair costs for the settlement building alone have been 2-3 thousand.

I'm about 100 turns into a Dane campaign, and so far I can honestly say I've never made a loss from sacking and occupying a town, though if I wanted to keep the buildings that were there I could see how it would be cost effective just to occupy. The main issue is really the public order penalty.

RedSands Well, all I know is that I would pre-order Medieval 3: Total War in a heartbeat. It'd be the first game I'd ever pre-ordered: have over 400 hours on it after getting it (and Empire: Total War, which was okay) on Steam 2-ish years ago for 5 bucks.

Abramus5250 There was a Game of Thrones mod for Medieval 2. It's not really as fun as it sounds unfortunately. The style and story of the show/books doesn't really suit a Total War game. If you know Crusader Kings 2, that game reflects and feels like Game of Thrones far more closely (there is a GoT mod for it too). Game of Thrones is far more about relationships, intrigues, intricacies and the actions of individuals, than the clashes of huge armies, which is what Total War is focused on.

I figure there is no more atrition due to siege the icon you saw was likely duo to the season being winter. However you slowly get damage to their walls and towers(?, not 100% on that), which will obviously make it easier to take the city since you can open more paths for your troops to swarm in. EDIT: Wow, that was a messy affair...

Little side comment on the family tree. I look it up and found out the Humbli's wife was the granddaughter of the first king and the daughter of the new king of Geats. and the adoptive daughter of Dangr is married to the first king's younger son and the new king's younger brother. making Humbli adoptive sister his aunt-in-law as well. Ain't that a bit of interesting if useless information?

I posted on the support forums about that DARN beach that is so bloody perfect for a landing spot. Even has a capture point which looks like it was placed to force the player/AI to defend it because your enemy could land there. Hopefully they fix it in a patch.

Hey Lionheart have you noticed that the Huns start to cheat as soon as attila is king? Others have noticed. He basically spawns full 20/20 armies that repeatedly attack you and there is little you can do unless you kill Attila... which you can't because he respawns and doesn't die every time I try. How do you counteract this? Its blatant AI cheating and its extremely discouraging to play against.

I think that you divided your forces far too much for the siege; having a single puny ram take on a whole side of the wall manned with archers would never have worked and blocked up a whole host of troops from entering the battle early on.

Lionheart if you want to destroy just towers with the onagers its probably easier to do it with just rocks instead of the fireball, normal rocks are more accurate. But if you just want to burn the city fireballs will be better in that :P

First of all, I really like all the series you do with Attila, but damn this battle was a pain to watch. It could've been so much faster and more efficient. You really split up your forces too much, which made management obviously too hard. When the onagerships destroyed the southern gate and towers (their godlike sniping skills tho) and the siege towers on the north side got to the walls you should've attacked from just those two sides, completely giving up the other ram and splitting those forces towards the other points. Now n the south your cav got slaughtered and the bows routed which made the easy gate, without towers a waste of time. The troops from the ships should've been used later, or your main army should've attacked the north earlier. This way, either your main army did a full attack trough the wall from three sides, with the shiparmy attacking in the back, or the shiparmy was send in first to distract and your main army could've marched right in to finish them off. Anyway, keep up the good work and I hope you'll do the 1 hour part five special because the Danes are awesome

idk I could be wrong but by you attacking from so many different angles it seems to over extend your micro therefore you loose a lot of troops so maybe next time while attacking you should, have your navy also land by your main force and attack at one central position rather then multiple and overextending your forces.

So, around minute 25 you had knocked down 2 gates and all the towers near them. I can't help but think that you should have brought your spears around to one while your general went through the other, instead of trying to attack the middle gate that was heavily guarded with towers. The 2 open gates plus your ships landing in the middle, if timed well, would have given you a pretty good three pronged attack. I realize hindsight is 20-20, and the player on the side of the board always sees the best moves, and all that. That said, I was convinced at minute 25 that you were well on your way to a resounding decisive victory. Just my thoughts.
