Total War Creators Have Fallen

I've followed Apollo for a long while and I've only seen him say positive things about Prince of Macedon... They even did some podcast type things together and livestreams with TheRyanKing. From my view, both things can be true at once. Apollo is fed up with the current total war games and is excited about a potential new game that he might enjoy. That's my 2 cents.

@@thesiberianproductions3748 it was maybe 10 years ago. Yes you probably have only seen him say positive things since that time and that is due to the fact that POM had so much class. It would take me some digging to find it but POM talked about it recently. He did not call out names but you can check out his interview with resonant. The one he refers to in the interview is most likely milk and cookies as he was the most vocal against POM but PA also joined into the hate even if it was on the lesser side in comparison. The two met in person since and have been real cool about things which honestly says a lot for PA as well. Not many reversed what they said about POM let alone were public in support of him like PA was.

Thank you very much for your kind words sir! I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that everyone as already won, the historic gamers can enjoy the games that they love and the fantasy side can enjoy those games. No one is taking away the games you enjoy playing and if CA went under tomorrow we would still have over 20 years of great games to play and mod with.

Coming up from Rome (10,000 hours)and MTW 2 (8,000 hours) into Empire (100 hours), I am quite pleased with the game as it is. It feels like a natural progression with appropriate changes for the time period. I have watched many of your videos and I like them all, I do promise to go back and hit the like button all of them. Also, I noted, you do know a great deal about this game, no kidding. Also, your videos are pleasant and easy to watch, and your audio is clear and understandable all the time, so thanks for that. All your tips have made for better play, and thanks for that. Keep up the good work mate. Also, I would note, it is not an easy game to win.

I never liked Empire, I think all i played of it was a complete France campaign plus the Road to Revolution campaign and although I really liked that one, it was just too much of a buggy mess for me to enjoy (yes even with the patches), though I was around for the near gamebreaking pathfinding glitch from when the game came out. In the end the factions were just too similar for me to enjoy. Not really the games fault just the time period, although I enjoyed Shogun 2 even though those factions had identical units. The geography and buffs made Shogun 2 factions feel more distinct from one another.

@@TheAdmirableAdmiral lot of people love shogun2. I will tell you that after the last update they did it did fix some of the crashing problems and the game preforms better but yes there is still bugs to the game.

Total War needs a new engine, one that is more focused on melee combat and has real physics in it for units to push against each other and keep formation. Like the Old Rome 1 and Medieval 2 engines did. The program with the current engine is that it is getting old, it struggles to do melee well or the physics around it (it's why the units often seem like they're ice skating on the battlefield and are over reliant on kill animations) as it was first made to do musket warfare with limited melee in play. I think for Total War to even have a chance of a renewal and path to glory again, it will need to get a new engine then using that new engine push out well made game focused on a franchise everyone will love like: Lord of the Rings or release another historical title in a time period everyone has been asking for: be it Medieval 3 or Even shot and Pike Total War.

I think it’s kinda turned into one big sh*t show now, Apollos originally video wasn’t really attacking war hammer it was stating that total war is focused on war hammer styled games now instead of historical games, and from there other people have jumped on the train and it’s just gone down hill from there.

As someone who discovered Total War existed whilst in lockdown, I have a unique perspective, downloading Total War Alexander first. Total War Historia and Total War Nuevo are two completely different games, which Volund proved. The way units interact with other units, the way units interact with missiles, the way a hit is counted all make Nuevo an imitation of Total War Historia. If you like the arcade feel of it that fine but for the same reasons we oppose the racial and feminist insertion of new games today is the same reason I feel disgusted with Warhammer Total War (and I used to play High Elves Island of Blood by the way)

If it is just for me personally I would say I agree I dislike the games from rome2 on but this is my preference. I would not suggest or endorse purchasing newer titles for my viewers. I say this because I think CA does not respect its customers enough to fix older titles or address concerns of its customers. The mechanics you describe yes are different between the titles. Even still a portion of the total war fans like it. So I don't have a problem with them making these games for those fans. Problem is CA does not serve all their fans. They are like a Mcdonalds that only servers chicken nuggets. But you like burgers you say. Sorry only nuggets here. What you like the mcrib. Sorry only nuggets here.

@ it simply comes down to the fact GW canned Fantasy because no one was buying the armies. A box of Ultramarines (maybe 20-30 pounds) in the 40K universe was more profitable than the fantasy that would sit there for months. So they got rid of it. But that left fantasy fans like 15 year old me really angry and disillusioned because I was into the lore of my faction and I loved playing a rather unpromoted series. They ended the lore on fickle grounds and tried to get us to buy AoS. That experience made me think they thought Fantasy fans are stupid. TW is where my money is when GW realised they *might* (no no they fucked up) have made a mistake and tried to get thier feelers out for the original Warhammer series - a game GW had unloved, under appreciated and forgotten about. GW 5 years ago announced the relaunch of fantasy under The Old World. Seems to me CA management are in a similar position to GW regarding their respective titles, however CA unlike GW have not wisened up to reality. What I think needs to happen is for those at CA who seek to be true to TW legacy need to start their own indie title to prove interest to CA, who are playing the role of Jobbers.

Creative Assembly could bring the two factions together by making an aggressive push for the rights to a Lord of the Rings game. This will bring together the strategy and history wings of the fandom while giving us a Triple A title set in the Lord of the Rings universe. It wouldn't be unheard of as there was that Battle for Middle Earth strategy game from the late 2000s, it could be possible.

this Could do that. It could also be a horrible mess. Thats the risk of making products for big franchises, suddenly there are more cooks that have specific spice they tell you tu cook with. Thats why Warhammer worked, because the old world was dead, and GW didnt see a reason to care. They got some extra money from what they thought was a dead franchise. We got lucky that they did a "accurate" depiction of WH Fantasy. Its not a guarantee it will happen again. Or so are my thoughts. From Sweden with Love - Kami

Quick question, I just got fire by rank, for line infantry, does it work for 3 ranks or just 2 ranks? I recall you covered it in a video, but I don't remember the answer.

3 ranks. So it is best to keep you men formed in 3 ranks or less. fewer ranks means less damage but more susceptible to cav charges. Anymore than 3 and you waste firepower and take on more damage

No but I can I just figured no one would have issues finding them but I linked the small channel because most won’t find him. Btw he has legends linked in his and legend has pixelateds linked so you can follow the chain to get to them. Easy to push people to the small channel this way

I'm so sick and tired of this modern Total War discourse. Creative Assembly has been milking the Warhammer cow for 8 years now, and their other titles have suffered for it. Regardless, the Warhammer games are very strong titles on their own. The true test for CA will be what they do when they're done with Warhammer 3. They can certainly drag it out for a few more years at least, but their other developers must be working on something new and big to maintain the hype train coming off this trilogy. What really grinds my gears is the CONSTANT bashing from PA. Every single Total War video he does will have a point where he mentions how "You just don't get something like this in the new games", "the new games are so floaty", and so on. The old games still exist, you can still play them and enjoy them. Does it suck for historical fans that they've focused on Fantasy for almost a decade? Absolutely. Have they made some terrible, low effort cash grabs like ToB or relabeled existing games as SAGA titles (Shogun 2: FotS)? Yeah, and that's scummy. However, I think the defining moment will come with their next game.

Just as a side note regarding the hilarious jugement about video suggestions on this guys front page. As an outsider to american politics, well an outside to the entire Americas (European in this case) i can tell you: Those video suggestions are not necessarily related to any views you personally hold. I get them too. If you watch alot of content about history (and therefore historic politics) KZbin is just desperately trying to show the american election and all the mental gymnastics surrounding it down your throat. Without constant curation its basically impossible to escape it.
