Total War Shogun 2 Mod Manager "Update"

The Shogun 2 Mod Manager "Update" is being worked on by Creative Assembly. They say this fix should be released soon. Currently, the mod manager does not work for previous versions of the game, but you can still use it with the scripts file method. I will continue to make updates on this information as it becomes available.

Rising sun mod adds one it’s not as detailed on the map though if I remember but maybe it’s been updated since I last checked. I do understand why they didn’t add one as the focus was solely on Japan but yeah it would’ve been great to have another end game goal or challenge

Total Fall of the Samurai/Scramble for the East has a Korea map and faction but not sure if they're playable.

I heard Volund say that he asked the CA community guy why they are doing these patches to break the game and not fix the Kisho Ninjas, and their response in regards to the kisho ninja was to claim no one at the studio knew how. So their excuse for not fixing the most basic error is to say "We are too stupid to open a pack file manager, scroll down to the unit_stats_land table and modify a couple of entries" Honestly that explains a lot about how the newer games became so utterly nonsensically broken and disfunctional. I'll also add that you should expect chat to stay dead, and I honestly do not expect the mod manager to come back. It is most certainly not just UK law that sparked that, but I'd honestly bet on it being an intentional killing of an older title to try and force people into the massively underperforming modern ones (Much like how yearly sports titles work).

Huh I’m surprised they weren’t aware about the Kisho ninjas but yeah I doubt they will be fixed. As for chat certainly it’s not coming back probably and we’ll see about the mod manager if they said they have a fix then let’s see what happens all we can do now at this point.

@@TripleZHacker They seem to be aware, and their excuse for not fixing it was they are too stupid. No joke, that is genuinely what they said (Worded a bit different, but essentially just that they are too stupid to figure out how to alter a number in a table).

Update on the ScriptFix by Orendiz: Correction on the user.script method: I said on discord "copy ur mod names into the list" or something like that. But i forgot to mention/clarify that you need to add mod(space) then type the name of the mod then end it with .pack; For example: mod @battlecamera.pack; Also keep in mind load order, the mods listed at the top will override the mods bellow them. Some times it can fix a crash when mods cause compatability issues and some times it wont and it best to remove one of the mods that causing it. Also there's a limit on how many mods you can have running at ones, i think it was 40 or 30 something. also if your user.script is gone or missing you can make a new notepad file and rename it to user.script and it should work fine. Sorry for those who tried it and it didn't work for them and thought that this method is not working for them. My best friend and i were in a co-op campaign when all this happened. We haven't played since. We were going to look into doing the fix, but guess we can't do that anymore lol. Hope its fixed soon. A part of me believes that this happened out of malice.

A small update a couple of days ago actually added the Total War Launcher to the game files, but it doesn't even work. You can't run it through the .exe or any other file.

This new Total War launcher they added to the game instacrashes on start up due to it conflicting with pre-existing mods even with a current work around I can't even access the main campaign only the DLC ones at the moment Creative Assembly needs to fix this ASAP by personally reverting their current changes.

I sure hope they do fix it, I am really angry at CA for breaking it in the first place. How does that even happen, removing chat systems also removes the mod manager? Seriously how do you foul up that bad?

They fixed the modmanager (like the example launcher from R2TW and upwards). So at least they fixed that. There are still some issues since the last update (with the mini map and so on).

If the mod manager doesn't come back, I think it would be pretty clear that the reason they would do this is so that people stop playing their older titles and try to sell us their newer garbage ones.

How can they be so useless to break the minimap? And then they dare to demand of the playerbase to buy their newest shit all the while they leave their old games unfinished or broken. I used to have problems with the game running on linux they then fixed it in the last update and they by some miracle broke it again with this update

I've tried to clear my mods on Steam to play Vanilla with a friend, but no matter what I do I keep launching with the (modded) tag in the top right. I've manually deleted and reinstalled the folder, verified the files, and tried manually deleting just the content as well before this. Any advice for me?

Dang, I honestly am unsure if you tried all of those things then I don’t know what else would be causing it unless there’s something else you changed or edited. Sounds awful though. Did you unsubscribe to them to? I assume you did and I doubt that would change anything, but try that? I’ll try to look for any solutions, sounds really rough sorry I can’t be of more help~

Guys, my game crashes to desktop when loading any Shogun 2 Campaign, neither does historical battles load up. Custom games run normally. Anyone has a fix?

If only they are willing to update the clans, adding more playable clans. thus no need to use mods anymore, gameplay, maps etc... It's been a DECADE AND TWO GODDAMN YEARS since the last update. Like, what the hell!? I can't believe this is the only thing they did for Shogun 2, after a DECADE AND TWO YEARS, it's really my favourite strategy game ever. And knowing this, made me really disappointed.

Fix Kisho ninja & siege unit in a update then I am a happy man. It is annoying how Tokugawa clan Hattori clan have worse unique kisho ninja units then the base game ninja that is meh to begin with. I'm a monk main though yari ashigaru, Oda long yari & Oda matchlock ashigaru are the most powerful let the samurai & other units get an update to even slightly close the gap. Ronin, samurai, ninja & siege unit aren't even really worth using with few select faction exception but even then so & so.

I think this whole fiasco has taught me that it's time to take a long break from both CA and Total War in general tbh. I'm just really sick of the incompetence and lack of communication CA has been displaying over the last few years

It was really unfortunate they changed things but they just released the new mod manager if you check out that video, so mods are technically back if you want to give it a try you can but I understand if you wish to take a break, I’ve been able to run mods just fine but others just need to troubleshoot things a bit so feel free to try out the new mod manager if you’d like~

@@TripleZHacker ah I don't quite follow with this stuff. Basically all the mods I use are outdated and cause shotgun 2 to close after I start it up. Was hoping by going back to the 2022 beta it would fix my mods but it hasn't changed anything 😩

since the update, I can not start the game because a file about shield and sword infantry is corrupted. I did not even know that there is a file about shields! And I can not find that file anywhere

Whattttttt that’s so bizarre is it from a mod then?! Otherwise I didn’t know either, maybe shields in the file represent armor, I doubt it I know very little about modding in general when it comes to shogun 2

It should it’s just that it’s a hidden folder you need to type into the address bar %appdata% hopefully you’ll find it then?

@@TripleZHacker I've actually already restarted from that game (Shogunate got hands.) But in my new one I have 4 of the major nodes and control the whole island, blitzed to get the Daikyu Archers, have yari cavalry and naginata. I think it's gonna be a good start. Looking towards the island the Shimazu start on (shikoku?) And am actually about to fight a battle right now against the Shoni! Wish me luck!

@@TripleZHacker Chosokabe Kunichika (my man) fielded 1880 Men in total, Shoni Sukemoto fielded 2440. Chosokabe Stats - Deployed/1880 Lost/261 Remaining/1619 Enemy Killed/1865 Shoni Stats - Deployed/2440 Lost/1866 Remaining/574 My Yari Cav got the most kills killing the dishonorable cowards of the Shoni, at a staggering 617. The next best? 250 by everyone's favorite Yari Ashigaru, only suffering a small 57 men!

it's a bit of crap, since nearly all of the amazing mods created for the game aren't updated now, so it's just the most useless update, and has no positive effect in reality
