The Tomb Kings, the undying rulers of Nehekhara, are a race in Warhammer fantasy who will be a DLC or expansion race for Total War Warhammer. This video will cover the lore, army compositions, units, and tactics of the Tomb Kings, as well as their Legendary Lord choices and how they might be implemented in Total War Warhammer.
We also cover the legendary lord choices, and possible mechanics like the World Roots and Wild Hunt that could make the Wood Elves campaign so interesting.

You were saying that you didn't understand why the second son took the throne, I believe I read in some codex or other ages ago (before the more recent changes to Warhammer fantasy lore etc.) that his family noticed his unchecked ambition, and his father had feared him as basically a bit of a sociopath (something to do with how he dealt with rival priest?). So I think there was a reason as like many monarchs the successor could be specified, if not first born etc. as his father was scared of him or something like that? I may be wrong but this is what immediately sprung to mind when you said this. Though given that I was into tabletop over twenty years ago they may have altered this particular lore entirely though.

Christopholaes Newer versions of the lore (I'm not sure about older ones) state that as a part of Nehekhara's pact with the Gods, the firstborn son of every family was to be sent to the Mortuary Cult. Which is why Nagash's younger brother ascended to the throne instead of Nagash himself

First of all: I don't know much about this faction and I think you did a great job at outlining everything and I think it really reflected that this was something you enjoyed doing. Second, if they implement the Tomb Kings it will, in my opinion, be the start to solving a huge problem with the base game, namely that there is not enough variation between the late game of the base factions (Empire, Orcs, Dwarfs) which, again in my opinion, is prepare for the hordes of chaos. If the Tomb Kings are really that far south, their late game will be so much different, will they even be affected by chaos corruption? Will it also mean that Skaven will be inserted? So much to look forward to...

Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it! As for late game, I do agree they will have a very different campaign than other factions. Its entirely possible CA decides to spawn some Chaos or Norscan stacks in Nehekhara once the Chaos invasion comes, much like they do in the Badlands with the Beornling tribe. So they'll possibly still have to deal with Chaos. If Tomb Kings are a headlining faction in the 2nd game, then Skaven will probably be DLC and vice versa, but I dont think theyll be released together. One of them will be DLC I'm pretty sure

The part with Nagash being sent to the Mortuary Cult because it was the tradition for royalty to send their firstborns to serve in the Cult is actually a retcon from the more recent Editions of the Tomb King Armybook. In the original version, it simply happened that Nagash's father thought that there was something wrong with his son, so he sent him to the Mortuary Cult because he didn't trust Nagash to become a good a king.

The first born was essentially given to the Gods by having to become a priest, so your right, usually the first born gets everything but by giving your first born to the gods service it's considered a massive sacrifice.

I think they'll likely include a public order mechanic, just described/geared more towards "anti-black magic" and rebellions will be Arkhan rebellions similar to the Bretonian Greenskin incursions. Having rebellion armies that spawn under the control of Arkhan (so a unified faction, instead of various individual rebel groups) would fit the feel of the lore while running with the existing mechanic. Also (for the creation of armies outside Nehekhara) I was thinking they may add a "gate" system, wherein you would spawn all your armies in your capitol (from troops loyal to your rule) but you could build "crypt-gates", "sand-gates" or similar structures on conquered cities to move armies garrisoned in your capitol to another city. I do like the thought of resurrecting destroyed units with their experience intact, though I think that'll just play out as bonus chevrons to created units over time instead of by structure bonus - however, if NONE of your lords/heroes could be killed (just wounded like Legendary Lords) that would make a very interesting mechanic itself.

All I know about the Empires armies, they are mainly spearman, and great swords are a counter charge/ elector count defender. So if you can tell what units they use and how, that will be great, and if you can tell me how chaos, dwarfs, VC, green skins and beast men play as well that will be excellent. Lol. I Hope they will realease Nagash as well, as hes not a Tomb King but will have a similar Unit roster. And Alongside with Nagash i hope for the Realease of the other Vampire Clans as well. Maybe this could be just one DLC with all 5 (or even 6) legendary lords, their starting positions and a prexisting unit roster (as Vampires pretty much use the vampire count units, and nagash pretty much uses tomb king roster)

One way to maybe make the necrosphinx fly without having them look super derpy with their tiny wings is if they have like magic wings of light extending from the metal wings. More likely is that they walk or get cut and tomb kings will be a ground army.

I VERY much enjoy your videos, especially the lore part ! To be honest I could do without phrases like "he was a dickhead" and general edginess like that, cause it seems kinda forced and out of place when talking about lore, but meh, still nice to watch :) that part about ruling for a million years that actually turned out to be "just" several thousand is actually a nice touch by GW - in ancient Egyptian inscriptions often mention a million years of reign for a pharaoh. It is a kind of wishful thinking and "a million years" pretty much stands for "a lot of years" or damn-near "forever". This is also related to the mortuary cults - the temples dedicated to pharaohs which we generally call "mortuary temples" are often called "X's temple of million years", X being the name of the specific ruler. thanks for the vid :)

Well, now we know first Race Pack will contain four Legendary Lords and I strongly believe it is going to be Tomb Kings race pack.
