" i had a customer who wanted two pieces to match each other...So i decided it'd be great to experiment with different products and see if they actually match" - but all sarcasm aside, the end products look great! Looks like the color is deeper on the total boat board than the liquid glass bowl - can't tell if this is just because of the thickness, or if there was more powder dumped into the board pour, or a little of both - or if the epoxy really made it look that different......? I've been using Liquid Glass almost exclusively and it has seemed to me that it requires quite a bit of powder to get the color really saturated.

Really want to be using a respirator anytime yout working with raw epoxy and especially if your sanding it, it is like glass floating in the air and your breathing that, it gets to you eventually. I'd highly recommend looking into that yourself

How strong is the grip of the epoxy to the wood? Could a guitar neck that is missing a section, have that section filled in with the Total Boat?

Good video Seth! What tape are you using on the bottom of the cutting board. Also did I see it still stuck to the epoxy during the sanding portion.
@seths_custom_creations3 жыл бұрын
It’s packing tape and there shouldn’t be any when you’re sanding because I planed it all off

I believe you said serving board and not cutting board. I was wondering how durable the finish was? You said you applied mineral oil and bees wax. Are these coatings food safe? Any particular reason you chose that finish over maybe an epoxy finish? I'm new at this. Trying to learn!!!
@seths_custom_creations2 жыл бұрын
I don’t like clear epoxy finishes. They scratch too easily. The mineral oil and beeswax protects the wood from water and doesn’t scratch up.
@garyhelms18892 жыл бұрын
@@seths_custom_creations I completely forgot about this video. Glad you responded. I have a butchers block counter top that I bought from lowes at a huge discount because of a crack. I repaired the crack with epoxy as well as several other defects. As I pondered the finish I began to wonder if mineral oil soaking into the wood would diminish the bond between the wood and the epoxy... any thoughts?? Secondly, if any future issues occur with the butcher's block (well it did crack to begin with) would I be able to use epoxy or even glue for that matter for repairs if the counter top is saturated with mineral oil and bees wax?????
