My biggest gripe with the SVHO platform was with premature supercharger shaft, bearing, and clutch failure amongst recreational riders who log many hours in the chop…now it all makes sense that it was due largely to loss of oil pressure upon deceleration. Amazing this went unnoticed by the community until FuelTech came along.

This is also due to Yamaha no including a blow off valve for the supercharger. No serious person using engines with superchargers installs them without blowoff valves. This is one of the dumbest things that Yamaha has done and it's probably to save them selves money and not extend the longevity of their products

It's funny to me that on my modded '16 SVHO, Yamaha recommends the potential use of so many different oil viscosities! I've always wondered if there was a consensus on what viscosity grade to use in warmer southern climates like S. GA & N. FL.

Is the NA 1.9 having oil problems with the stock pan? The wife and i were looking at two 2024s.

Hope not! I just picked up my FXC HO 2 weeks ago and don't want to think about any future issues😮

@williamlutsch4259 for sure! I've got 5 years of warranty so we'll see if they upgrade by then. I plan on buying the 1.9 svho around 2026 so maybe things will be good by then. If not, I'll let the warranty take care of things instead of buying the billet oil pan unless I choose to build the motor at that point. Then it'll just be extra insurance...

@@mhmetts3 if its a large issue, id hope itd end up a recall. I still prefer yamaha over doo based on reliability and, ashamed to say, appearance.. but, if theres this oil pan issue. The doo is definitely a good bang for the buck. The linq system is seriously soo convenient

Slow return is the main problem.. the pump picks it all up then picks up air. So much windage to keep the oil stable is causing the slow return.

Welding anything that needs to hold oil means doing a full penetration pass from both sides and wrapping all of your corners. Oil is a fickle thing with welds. You could have 1 pin hole on the inside weld at one end of the pan and one pin hole on the outside weld at the other end and you will get a leak. Oil will fill the space in between and just keep creeping until it finds its way out.

$1800 bucks is kind of a lot to spend on a brand new 20k ski but then how much to put it in? That skis is going to get to 25k damn fast.

I doubt they make 10’s of thousands of skis annually, it’s not an F150.

That problem sends the Yamaha realiability idea down the drain. It's a shame Kawi only has a 160hp NA engine.

I would agree here, why would they make this ? If the 1.9 is going 62/63 mph stock, and every 1.8 SVHO to date is limited by the ECU to 67 mph, it seems like quite the waste to add a super charger to add 5 mph to the top speed. They can make all the dumb useless changes they want, until they change the ski and state it's the most horse power and fastest on the market in all categories, I don't care and either should you. Until the douche bag gentlemens agreement of 67 is lifted nothing new is faster than anything made basically 20 years ago from the factory.
